Worst & Best Airline

Last weekend, I was on a trip to Boracay. My friends and I were so unfortunate that our flight going to Caticlan was delayed by four hours! I didn't think that things could get worse - going back to Manila, we found out that my flight has been canceled, without my knowledge. I was extremely dismayed and disappointed with how the situation was handled by the ground and on-site crew of this airline. I waited for an hour before I was attended to + I was always given templated answers, which really ticks me off + There was a long line of passengers in the office who were also complaining + The people who were based at the site could not make decisions on their own. I was terribly surprised at how every decision had to come from Manila. + Aside from that, there was only one person handling all the complaints. + The people from this airline had no sense or urgency at all. For me, it is not enough that an airline company provides a good aircraft, pilots, and FAs. Often, ground service is neglected. It's not all about sales. You can't get people to come back to you if you give them bad service. --- I'm never flying ZEST AIR again. Sure, their food's better compared to other airlines, but they have the worst service ever.

Is this a local airline company in your country or international...? I've never heard of it. I must say that there are some airlines that are bad in service and if only they could do better in those, there will be more happy passengers definitely. I'm sorry that you have had a bad experience. Sometimes, if I were to be in a bad airline situation experience, the first time I would give the benefit of the doubt, but the 2nd time, I will not hesitate to change to another airline that is of a better service.

Yep. It is a local airline. I can let go of delayed flights, it does happen all the time. Canceling a flight is a different story. I almost was not able to get home and I seriously didn't want to be left in a place where I don't know anyone. The airport where I was is located in a small town and I just didn't want to be left in a place where I absolutely do not know anyone. I doubt if there are hotels in the town. If I wanted to get a decent hotel, I'd have to get on a boat. Oops. Sorry. I was ranting there. Thanks for the response to this discussion.

No worries, rant all you want. I'm willing to read.. On a cheerful note, at least you have this experience to a non-active traveler like me. I used to be active, but I've stopped since being busy with work and whatnot. Must make it a point to travel soon for some r&r. You are right; I would hate to be stranded in a place where I don't know anyone. It would be boring, awkward and issues of like lodging and transport etc is another thing altogether. Do take care, my friend..

I have times when I'm don't travel so much especially when I am busy. I was just lucky that my last job demanded me to travel so much. Hahaha. I kind of got the hang of it, I totally enjoyed it and I made a promise to myself that I'd really want to travel all over, not for work, but like you for R&R.

There's a multitude. Delayed flights that they don't even bother to inform the passengers when the planned arrival would be, they just say it's delayed, but we don't know when it's gonna come. One time I waited for 6 hours before calling it quits and just asked for a refund and rescheduled my trip. I only found out later that, after waiting a whole day, the passengers were informed the flight was canceled (duh) Also bought 4 tickets on separte occasion using a credit care and it wasn't used. I asked for a refund and they reffered me to an office in Manila (not in my area), I caled the office and it's been two years now and still no refund despite my continuos long distance calls. The email support address is non existenet and they still give it out on their cards. One time I arrived just in time (or so I thought) for a trip that was leaving in 40 minutes, and I found out the idiots have already gave my seat to someone else (this never happens in PAL) and there was a deduction in my refund. The scales in the airports differ and I was asked to pay overcharge in one airport when I clearly was inside the limit at another airport. One airport told me I could only carry one baggage and had to check the others in thus paying more. Then my connecting airport said I can carry two baggages and said I don't have to check it in. You should have seen this one instance where a man in a wheelchair went berserk because the check-in counter told him his connecting flight was canceled without informing him, and he started pounding the table with his walking stick! It caused quite a commotion at that time. Anyway, stay away from this airline

Oh dear. Those were all terrible. Sometimes, I think that they have the guts to do these things to their customers because they themselves never experience the problems that we go through during pre-flights. It sucks.

They are a relatively new airline company that's why their service may be needing some fine tuning as the employees as well as the management may not be well synchronized as to how to serve their service. Well I thank you for the experience you had for sure many will avoid this airline company unless they would reform their service to their customers.

I had the notion that it was a new airline, but a friend corrected me and said that it used to be Asian Spirit. I guess they aren't so new after all. Thanks for your reply.

My friends and i experience almost the same thing last week when we were in Iloilo... we flew there throught Cebu Pacific and our going out flight was with Zest Air... and it was delayed for 4 hours... and we were practically the only ones left in the airport to wait... they did give us dinner... but the ground crew were quite noisy... and did not even give any reason for the delay... But i can't say i won't be flying Zest Air again... since they have the cheapest fair there is... and i can fully understand that the reason for the delay was the bad weather...

I don't want to experience it again. These people from Zest Air even said that they found me rude and I was like WHAT?? I don't think anyone would take a situation like that smiling and sitting down especially if one sees that the people he or she is don't even have the sense of urgency. I'm just thankful that at the end of the day, after all that's been said and done, I was not left in either Caticlan or Kalibo, but I was able to get back home to Manila. That's what matters.

Somehow, I can still stand a delayed flight. What I really hate is a canceled flight.

Zest Air - I've never even heard of them and the first time that I do, here in this discussion, I already know not to trust them with my trips. I'll make sure that I keep away from that airlines. What about Cebu Pacific, have you had any bad experiences with it? I find it very economical and its services are "worth it". You don't pay exuberant prices so you don't really expect much :P But they serve well nonetheless (except that they don't have good food on the plane). Thanks for the response on my discussion :)

Cebu Pacific is okay. I have friends who tell me that their flights get delayed too but the waiting time is reasonable, though I have not experienced flight delays with Cebu Pacific. I went to Cebu, Bohol, & Cagayan de Oro via this airline and so far I have not experienced any problem(s) with them. Just be prepared because they have games on the plane! They ask the passengers to participate in the games. Hahaha. There was this one time that it was my birthday and my friends told one of the FAs that it was my birthday - the Captain greeted me and the FAs asked the people to sing. It was so embarrassed that time, but had so much fun. Cebu Pac rates are also very reasonable.

i hated it when some land, water or air transportation are not good in the way they treat their customers, specially if they have a poor or even worst service in taking care of their customers. specially if they can't even tell us what are the reasons why they are having such problems in their airlines or others too. well, i haven't tried riding an airplane yet but i hope my first time would be great of an experience. thanks friend jhelai

Yeah. It does anyone no good when the real deal is being kept from customers because they kind of end up in a "false hope" situation. It makes things worse because it pisses them off. Oh well. I would only want you to have a wonderful experience on your first plane ride. Goodluck.

Hi russo! I'm really sorry to hear what have happened to you. But don't worry, I think issues like this will really affect the Zest Airlines. With the increasing numbers of airline company, it is not only the fare price that really matters but the services they tendered to their customer. Complaints like this would soon spread over all the country. They should really given importance to their customer, after all their business welfare rely heavily on them. Have a nice day!

I have three favorite airlines: Air New Zealand, Qantas and Virgin Atlantic. They have friendly and good quality service. I have flown around the world, to Australia, to New Zealand, to the USA and the South Africa on those great airlines. The worst airline I flew with to Tunisia. The staff were miserable and the journey was rough. There was much air turbulence. I was sick and had strong ear pain. Apart from that I have been on two budget airlines which the seats had incredibly little leg room. The basic price was low but carrying baggage was pricey.

Yikes ... it's difficult to be in a plane that has small leg room. I'm a little lucky that that isn't much of a problem for me, but for tall people, I know how difficult it can be. Actually, the aircraft that I'm talking about has really small leg room. Going back to Manila, I was seated next to a tall man. He was seated next to the window. He totally looked like he was having a hard time, I asked if he wanted to switch seats with me so that he could have the aisle seat and be a little more comfortable. It's good that it was just a one-hour flight going back home.

Sorry that happened to you. It must have been very frustrating! I hate flying on airplanes. The whole thing is such a hassle. Of course, there are times when you can't help it. Sometimes I feel sorry for the customer service reps. at the airports. They don't have any control over what is going on, but they are the people who get yelled at. They should be given more information to relay to passengers.

It was very frustrating. I did feel sorry for the guy that I spoke with, but I think that airline companies should be able to anticipate these kinds of things so that matters that concern passengers may be given more attention and given solutions as well.Ö I wouldn't want that to happen again. Thanks for responding to this discussion.

Hello russso! I actually tried Cebu Pacific, Zest Air, Continental Airlines and Japan Airlines. So far, I haven't experienced having a worst trip or something. I like Zest because their flight is much cheaper though. For me, the best airline is Japan Airlines. It's big, comfortable and the food is great!

Isn't this frustrating?! I never have had a flight to be cancelled but we had a six hour delay in Brussels, Belgium one time. My parents and I had flown to Europe with a church group in 1973. We flew overnight from Bangor, Maine to Brussels. We were supposed to change planes there and fly to London, England. The plane we were supposed to take went to Madrid, Spain instead, not knowing thy were supposed to go to Brussels. We were all so tired, too, because none of us got much sleep the night before. Kathy.

It IS frustrating. It's the worst experience with any airline. 6 hours is no joke. I could just imagine how tiring waiting could be. Oh dear.
