Dying to get to the Doctor

Do you have health insurance? I have which is good but the problem is the doctor's they give you to choose from.. I had a great doctor 4 years ago and then they changed our insurance and I had to switch. Now I've had 4 different doctors at this new place., 3 left and 1 I changed because he was a jerk. Now I have a new 1 that I haven't met because I can't get a stupid appointment. I called last week on Thursday because I have a sinus infection, I know because I had them before. They tell me I can't see the doc. till the 26th, I said "I be dead by then", so the guy says, "I put in a nurses call and you'll get a call within 2 to 3 days to get you a sooner appointment". That was last Thursday . Now nobody called me and now I don't even have an appointment for the 26th. by the time I get to see the doctor I be dead. I think they want you to go to a Quick Care because it's more money. How about that.

That's terrible. It really is all about the money. They see someone with decent insurance and they try to drain it dry. I do have insurance that I really like..it's a good doctor that I like that I can't find. Fortunatly..I have a wide variety of doctors to choose from..I can even go to a specialist without a referral. I just can't seem to find a doctor that cares about quality care. I hope you get in there soon...those sinus infections are terrible and lead to other things.

That's another issue I'm having, none of them ever send me to a specialist. I've been complaining about my ear aches. They just look in there and tell me they fine. DUH. Then why do I always have an ear ache?

One good thing about being Canadian is free Healthcare. However the waiting periods are horrible. It takes forever to get in to see a doctor. But it also depends on the doctor you are going to see. My family doctor is the worst. It is almost a 2 month waiting period. Well I don't have 2 months to wait on something that will take tops 5 mins. Never mind waiting for an appointment. Waiting for your actually appointment on the day of your appointment is horrendous. I can't stand waiting for long periods of time. I know they fall behind but 4+ hours from your appointment is a little too much. I also hate the fact that they over book way too much and they start appointments when the doctor isn't even there. What is up with that. Ok I think I better stop. I can go on forever with health care.

That's worse then here. If you go to the emergency room you end up waiting 4to6 hours.

I think that is a crock..they should let you keep the doctor you already had and was comfortable enough. My mom is dealing with a sinus infection right now and has been for awhile. She hates her doctor and is looking for a new one who cares about her and her needs not one that ignores her when she goes in. And only spends 5 seconds in the room and writes a ton of wrong prescriptions..now that is what can kill you.

That's what happened last time I went to the doctor. He asked me what was wrong and I told him my sinuses are bothering me, he just gave me antibiotic's without ever checking me out. I just pretty much diagnosed myself.

That is basically what happened with her also. Crazy..that is how mistakes are made and people die...unnecessarily.

Medicine is sick in our country. I have been in Europe last year for over 3 months. People with national health care are complaining but: -they have home visits by family doctor free of charge -they can stay home when sick up to 30 days per doctor recommendation and they are paid -they have everything free of charge and they don't have to wait with emergency -they don't need any referral to specialist if emergency.... and on and on.... I do have an insurance that cost me over $300 per month...and they don't pay for such many things....I am tired with it...

Just wait till the government is making the list of doctors.

Insurance companies already do it. Wait until the government is in control or them. You wouldn't even be able to switch providers if they didn't cover your doctor.

I hope that won't be possible
