What a neat idea

When I read a book; I literally read it cover to cover - dedications and intros and all. When I read the intro to a Karen Kingsbury book, I stumbled across what I thought was such a marvelous idea. Apparently for the book, Karen Kingsbury had used eBay to give people a chance to bid on a name in the story. The winner got to name a character in the book. Apparently there were two different auctions - both Logan & Max' name were in the book because they'd been put forth by the winners of the eBay bid. All the money that she raised when to an orphanage in ( I can't remember exactly where ) a third world country somewhere. Not only is she a wonderful author but sounds like she's an all around wonderful person.

I have read some Karen Kingsbury books, but have not seen this. That is a neat way for her to raise some money for a charity. I wonder how a person would get info on an aution going on like that? Perhaps it was announced in another book or on her website (if she has one).

Writing people into a book and giving the money to an orphanage was such an awesome and nice thing for her to do. I think I'm going to have to check out some of her books now because she sounds like such a great person.
