According to Wikipedia, OCD is an anxiety disorder characterized by involuntary intrusive thoughts. When a sufferer begins to acknowledge these intrusive thoughts, he then develops anxiety based on the dread that something bad will happen. The sufferer feels compelled to voluntary perform irrational, time-consuming physical behaviours to diminish the anxiety.
I would like to know if there are people here with this same "illness". I "suffer" from it (the commas are because i really believe it doesn´t affect to the point of becoming pathologicaly relevant) and would like to know your own obssessions or those of some friend you would know with this disorder.
I can tell you that some of my obssessions are:
- can´t deal with messy carpets
- can´t have very much light in my room (specially when i wake up)
- don´t like when people put stuff on my desk (and if they put it, it has to be aligned geometrically)
- usually have to have everything around me aligned symmetrically
- don´t like numbers which don´t end in 0, 5, or 9 like 24, or 133, or 1033...when i have, for example, 37 euros on my mobile it bothers me, so when i have to make a call its just perfect if it goes to 35...on the other hand, if i have 35 euros and have to make a call, i prefer not to make it, unless it´s really urgent... :p
Now you, people... :)

Haha, no worries, I'm like that, too. But I also have ordinal-linguistic personification (there's a cool one to look up on wikipedia!). It means my brain gives personalities and 'colors' to inanimate objects and any ordinal sequence (like letters, numbers, days, and months) so that plays into my weird little OCD habits. Let's see, I'm trying to remember some of mine. One is when I write, I have to twist my pencil after every three words or so. I've tried to not do it but I can't, it's really weird. When I'm shopping, I can't buy something if it has an ugly color or an unlikeable personality. And by color, I mean the color I perceive from OLP, not the physical object's color. The worst thing for me to buy is shoes... Dx They have to look a certain way or I won't be able to like them.
I straighten everything. I don't like when things are crooked unless I intend for them to be. I also don't like touching things in places like public bathrooms. I usually use a moist towelette from my purse to get a paper towel and use that to touch what I need to. Grammar and spelling is a big thing as well, I can't stand when grammar is bad. I mean, since I was introduced to the internet, it doesn't bother me as much but like in a classroom or especially when the teacher makes an error, it drives me insane. I don't like using books that aren't in near-perfect condition. There are a lot more but I can't think of any others at the moment... XD

Lol...thank god i´m not the only one in this ship... ;p
Fox, first of all i must ask you to be complacent with my own grammar and spelling, since i´m Portuguese (Portugal, a real nice place near Spain, we are known for Amalia, Eusebio, Cristiano Ronaldo and, of course, Benfica, the best soccer team in the world...lol) and the only place where i practice my school and college based english is here...in MyLot...
Man, have you ever seen "As Good As It Gets"? It´s brilliant, and it "talks" about these disorders...

I think I consider myself an OC because before eating I wash my hands many times (about 5-7 times) before I can say that it's clean.. I don't know why.. =D and I'm quite irritated and can't concentrate if there's a mess around me (which I think is normal for everyone to experience this).. =D are these the symptoms of an OC?
