I deal with these type of issues almost on a daily basis when it comes to repairing computer problems. Of course in your situation I already know the type of symptoms your computer has with a mixture of spyware and trojan horse viruses. One of the most effective programs to use is Spy Sweeper which is very good at tracking down spyware, malware and tough cases of Trojan Horse viruses. I also use the latest version of Norton Antivirus 2009 in all my computer systems. This program is also used for tougher viruses and includes anti-spyware. I use these two programs when it comes to fixing those related problems like the one you're having. So these are the two that I recommend.

As I've said programs such as Spy Sweeper is effective in removing tough viruses and spyware. If the virus in your system that is hard to remove that's because it is already in the memory of the computer which keeps on coming up everytime you start you system. I use Norton AV 2009 and in most cases it has done a great job removing tough viruses, and for those tough viruses always best to restart when it is required. Having both that combined with Spy Sweeper does a great job.

I have tried antivirus like Norton, PCcillin, AVG, Karpesky, Avast and Avira. After trying those antivirus, i decided to use Avira. Avira is really a good antivirus. I did try to scan something with AVG and Avira and end up Avira manages to detect the virus but AVG not. Moreover Avira is free. I strongly recommend Avira as your antivirus. Give a try, if you don't like it you can switch to other antivirus anytime.

Nothing to really add except to reinforce that you only use nod32. be sure to remove every other anti-virus software before installing nod32, then reboot. Try the smart security version 4. If that doesn't remove the root of the problem I dont know what to say.

What you are talking about is not exactly a virus, its a malware (adware). I recommend you to use Spybot or Spyware Doctor for removal of malwares and Kaspersky Internet Security or ESET NOD 32 for virus protection. Yeah, if you are unable to remove malwares even after scanning them with these s/w then format your drive. Hope this helps.
