It has happened with me a lot of times that I end up getting the most marks for the subjects I have least prepared.Even today I had my series exam in my college and i had not studied even a fraction but still i was able to answer all the questions. Have anyone experienced the same? I would really like to know the reason.Maybe it is because you will be answering those questions by really using your brain and would be recollecting directly what your teacher told you during the class. It has always surprised me.If I am too thorough with a subject and I will be making some careless mistakes and will end up loosing some marks.

I remember to be sitting for my law of contract paper in November 2007 and I had barely prepared my paper very well, I though I will fail and I had been thinking that before and after sitting for the paper, When I got the paper I was not stunned at all as I knew I will fail as I have not prepared any question in it. But I got a 42 when the result came which means I pass with little points, I did not mind because I was not aiming even 40 so 42 is good enough to make me pass.

well i have done that pretty much through my school years. i realised it's all about paying attention in class. if we are able to understand and absorb what is taught, examination is not a problem at all. however, if i cannot understand the topic, no amount of preparation will allow me to ace the examination. so the most important thing about acing an examination is how much attention you pay in class. make sure you understand what the subject is all about and examinations should be a breeze.

Ya I agree with you.If you are attentive in class then you need hardly any preparation. You might think you have prepared less but in fact might have understood the whole subject.

Yes in school this once happened to me.It was the history paper and i studied geography and went.I was surprised when i got the question paper.I tried hard to remember what the teacher taught in the class.Since we had the semester system.I made up all the marks in the next exam.I never commit such mistakes right now because it is a big loss in my career.

that hasn't happened to me since i was always prepared as a student. no kidding. however, i would like to share (forgive the pride of a mother) that my onlie who is 3 years old aced his first seat work. now, isn't that the most amazing thing? (just agree, please ) he hasn't been really schooled yet as that was only his fourth day in school. and he is the crying one of the class.

well honestly yes... if i like the subject, i dont really review for exams on those, i dont even take notes, i guess i just have good memory because i can understand what is being lectured and remembers it when it is examination time. i have had subjects where i get to be exempted. im the kind of student that is so lazy in reviewing even when i was in elementary, but i always get good grades... but when i was in college there are subjects that are really hard for me to grasp, especially those in electronics, knowing that i dont review that much i would expect myself to fail, but fortunately... i still get a passing grade.

I think almost all of us belong to the same cater. I too don't study much but open the book only at the last minute that just the before day of the exam. So sometimes i myself feel proud for my talent. Sometimes i won't be even studying but will be the first rank holder. We all should be proud of our talent. My mother use to shout day and night asking me to study. I just escape from my studies and will be playing with my friends outside.

Hi aromalram, You are right about some exams which are help unexpectedly. I faced faced it many times in my schooling days. We had very strict social teacher in our 8th standard who always surprises us with sudden assignments. Usually students are not that ideal in learning things and she knew very well about that attitude. She was very keen in observation and she used to conduct surprising assignments and used to include those marks in our progress. We were customized to her attitude and used to keep ourselves up-to-date and finally everyone performed well in her subject. I think she is a perfect teacher. This makes us to learn many things in life that we should be active in each and every minute to accept anything that the world gives us. I have faced many such sudden examinations in my life and some well successful ones and some are flops of course. Anyways buddy Keep smiling and happy mylotting :)

It has happened to me many times. A few times, for classes I did not even attend often enough to even hear much of a lecture. It has made me wonder if perhaps, the tests are made to be easier; lowering the standards. Maybe it has to do with stress levels. Perhaps knowing that you have not studied, there is a sort of acceptance that you may fail. In contrast, you might assume you "have to pass" and get more stressed when you come across a few situations where the answer was not so forthcoming.

I used to be able to do this when I was younger. As I get older I start to mind wonder more and it's not possible to do that. It is even hard to pass a test if I study very hard. I have BPD and my doctor said that it can cause my to become ditsy and forgetful over time. More so without my medication. So, I try to keep taking my medication and challenge my brain as much as I can because I just can't focus like a used to and I don't want to 'lose my mind' alltogether!

I've experienced this lots of times when I was still at school. I usually ace an exam without studying because I pay close attention to the classroom lectures instead of reading books and reviewing my notes.

Yeah it happened to me when we had a exam in English class on Romeo and Juliet. During class my teacher told us that we were going to have one, but when I went home I forgot to study for it. The next day I went to class I aced it. I was very shock because I was struggling with Shakespeare before that exam, but during the exam it was like a lightening struck me or something. I just started recollecting information from my head that wasn't I never even had lol. Well that was a great moment and ever since then Shakespeare became easier for me to understand.

Yes I experienced this many times especially in my favorite subjects.. but sometimes I feel guilty though =| most of my teachers still base on your effort and persistence on the subject that's why there's still no reason for me not to review on a specific subject. Most of the time they rely on the thickness of your notes and instead of your high scores, my professors still base on the student's attendance, completeness of one's quizzes and major exams which clearly proves the student's active participation in the class. Because oftentimes the brighter students in the class usually attend the major exams and it's unfair to those who work hard but find the subject difficult.

I rarely prepare for tests. I can usually pay well enough attention during class to be able to do good enough to keep a high grade. I think its just because you have actually LEARNED something and can remember it now! It would depend a lot of the kind of test you are given. Recall, which is what you do when you answer a multiple choice or fill in the blank question is the lowest level of learning, and just shows that you payed attention in class. These are usually the easiest questions. To see if you actually learned anything, you have to do something with what you learned.

I have experienced that but I'm able to ace it when I attentively listened to the teacher's discussion, study in the last few minutes or better say i cram or when my seatmates agreed to cheat on each other as a team if I was not able to do these things, I usually fail. Please don't think of me as a very aggressive cheater, I only cheat on minor exams in which I did not have a chance to study but in major exams I don't really cheat, I study and prepare for major exams. I take it seriously and surely.

I like never study for exams and manager to ace them. If you just pay attention when your teacher/professor is reviewing the material or teaching them in the first place there is really no need to study!
