My baby was 19 yesterday

Yesterday was Lauren's 19th birthday. I'm a little sad, but the part of me who loves playing pranks came out anyway.
Her dad and I had upgraded her phone and purchased her an LG Vu for her birthday. It's burgandy, and completely touch screen. I have to say I'm a little jealous. We also bought her Daddy Day Care and Ever After movies that she'd been wanting for her DVD library.
I hid the phone in my room and plugged it up so she'd have a full battery when she started. Then I put the box and her DVD's in the birthday bag, along with the phone which I left OUT of the box.
I had already given Nathan, the young man she's dating her new number. As we sat down for dinner, I gave her the bag and she sat it on the chair beside her. I had my phone in my lap and about half way through dinner, I sent Nathan a text message that simply said NOW.
A few seconds later, her bag started ringing! At first she had a very confused look on her face trying to figure out where the music was coming from. Finally, Mike said "I think your bag is ringing". She ripped open the bag and when she saw her Vu, she immediately grabbed it and started dancing around the dining room. (It was the exact phone she'd been wanting) For the first time since she started to talk, my daughter was speechless. She could barely talk to Nathan she was so excited.

Thats exciting and funny what you did. and cute. She was estatic you made her day.

I will post a picture of her on this discussion. This one was taken at dinner the other night when all of her friends were here. It was a couple of days before her actual birthday but the only night that a couple of them could be here. So the night of her birthday turned otu to be private with me and her dad and her only. That was a little more special.

thank you! I am getting ready to post some pics on gather (If you're on there) of the kids from this weekend. I wish I could post here, but it will only let you do a few at a time. And I don't think you get credit for them do you?
Anyway, there are some photos of her that is just her and they are gorgeous.

That was nice to have a good sit down dinner with her for her birthday. She is beautiful. Gosh I can remember 19.

That is exciting, and I'm glad she had such a good birthday. I love the movie Ever After. My Thursday felt hectic, but maybe it was the heat that made it feel that way. I had to go see my doctor, then run to the grocery store, and that kind of stuff. The doctor thing took forever, because when the nurse went to draw blood (she was new), she couldn't get a vein. She tried three different places and got nothing. So she gave me a paper to go to a lab downtown. I know one of the other nurses could do it, but she refused to go ask them for help.

Let me give you some advice after having worked in a medical clinic for 10 years. She cannot refuse to go get someone else. After they have stuck you twice, you have a medical right to say NO MORE and get someone else. They have to use a smaller needle on me, and there is one nurse that can never find my vein because they are so small. I have it on my chart that she is never to try again because she bruised me so badly the last time.

Oh that sounds like so much fun. Afraid my Thursday was spent 10 hours at the call center getting called every name in the book because the customers calling me didn't pay their bills. I hate my job - God I say that a lot lately...
My baby turned 18 a few weeks ago but it was pretty uneventful as I'd already 'loaned' him some money several weeks before and since he was able to pay me back when he said he would I told him that was his birthday present. I did get some cupcakes, I ate one and he devoured the rest of the dozen.
