Spam: a new ruse

I received a spam mail today (not from any site I signed up to) which included this text:
"[b]This message is sent in compliance of the new email Bill HR
1910. Under Bill HR 1910 passed by the 106th US Congress on
May 24, 1999, this message cannot be considered Spam as long
as we include a way to be removed. Per Section HR 1910.[/b]"
This bill never became law and so it has NO effect. Spam is still spam!

NEVER click an unsubscribe link in an unsolicited mail. It only tells the spammers that yours is a genuine email address with a person at the other end.

I do not use the 'unsubscribe'. I open it using my Outlook Express, without really opening it. I go into properties to get the gist of it.
First I block them, so they can't send me any more emails, then DELETE!

oh wow i didn't know they even had a bill for something like that damn spam artists they try everything and throw everything they can out there to nab people its a shame nothings sacred

yeah ive made that mistake many a time only to get spammed more by other companies

I remember being new online years ago and not even knowing what "spam" was. Now that I've been online for over a decade, it has become easier to recognize by titles alone. I do have good spam filters, though. They are invaluable. What does sift through, yes, I report as spam.

Ooooh it does feel good to hit that Spam button, sometimes! I delete loads once I've read them but I feel sooo good when I can say it's 'spam' just by reading the subject line!!!
