Is going out to the movies one of the luxuries that you have had to cut?

If it is don't feel like you're alone. I don't know who is going to the movies still that gives all these movies their huge box office totals, but my bf and I had to cut going out to the movies out of our budget for the time being. Just in the interest of continuing to eat. We cut a bunch of expenses and (sigh) movie theatre butter popcorn at the movies is always so much better than that stuff that you buy for the microwave at the grocery store. However we are making do, and we are not going without our movies. I joined Netflix again and we watch on average about 2 movies a week. It is actually kinda nice snuggling in our own bed watching movies and chomping popcorn in the dark. (kernels in the bed however is not one of life's great pleasures.) I actually am beginning to like it more than going out and sitting in those uncomfortable chairs that always put my rump to sleep and I don't miss the sticky floors at all! Are you still going out to the movies once in a while?

I honestly never really went to the movies a whole lot to be perfectly honest. If I DID go to the movies, then it was when I was on a date and the guy always paid, so that was never an issue for me. But if I do watch movies, then I usually just download them. I might go to the movies every now and again, but it's so expensive anymore. By the time you pay for your ticket, get a drink and popcorn and maybe candy then it's like $20. I would much rather watch a movie at home, buy a box of popcorn and drink pop at home. I can get that for under $5. :)

Nah, i don't go to movies anymore. The price has gone outrageously up and i don't think it's practical anymore. I'd rather wait for the DVD to come out. I guess this way i can still get my money's worth because i can play it over and over again and right at the comfort of my home. I guess we have the same reasons. Haha, i can relate to that sticky floors!

Yeah, its quite expensive nowadays... but I still go to the movies when its sure blockbuster like spiderman, transformers, superman, matrix, harry potter etc. I won't dare miss all the effects and the adrenalin rush of watching them on the big screen. It's exhilarating! Now that star strek is coming soon I can't wait... lol

Hi, for me i do not go for movies in cinema very often, or i can say that i seldom go for movies. Usually if i would go for movies, i'll go with my friends, but not if i'm alone. So, i think there is no need for me to cut down the frequency of me going for movies. If i cut it down, it will become none for me,haha. Going for movies at cinema is actually fun and we can really enjoy the audio and visual stimulus and excitement, which are not the same if we watch it with VCD or DVD at home. THe environment and the atmosphere in the cinema are of course much better compared to our 'home-made cinema', if not why are we paying for to the cinemas? Thus, i'd say that going out for movies once in a while is still fine, and it's an enjoyable and relaxing things to do in our daily life.

Yes sometimes i needed to think a hundred fold before deciding if i will watch any upcoming movies especially he it is a talk of the town. Sometimes it is wrong timing since i dont have enough money or i had to be strict on my resources. I can still watch the movie though that will be via DVD and the experience will be much less than watching it in a movie house.

I am not much of a movie goer...but once or twice a year....and it doesn't bother me at all to wait for the movie I want to see on DVD...and rent it. I don't eat popcorn and when I do go to a movie I sometimes sneak in my own treats....from the dollar store.

Yeah, my boyfriend and I was supposed to go to a movie two Sundays ago. But on that day I just didn't feel like going. Even though he's going to pay for the tickets, I still feel as if it'll be a waste. That much money for just 3 hours inside the theater?! So we went window shopping instead and ate and talked. It was still fun. And we had a good talk, something you can't do in a movie theater. hehe.

I don't honestly go to the movies a lot as it is. But yes, I always think twice before going to the movies these days. It's amazing how much it can cost just for my fiancee and I to go! Plus we have a blockbuster in store/online plan that can give us all the movies we want to watch!!! AND another huge bonus is that we recently got a 1$ movie theater in our town. They get movies about a month after they've aired in the normal theater and only charge 1$ to see them. It's great!! And so cheap. I love going there at least once a month.

In a way - yes - for first run movies. We found a movie theatre that shows movies just before they go to DVD. It only costs 1.50 per person so that is affordable for us. We do not get drinks and popcorn since those items are still the regular high price and would cost more than the admission into the movie! It is a cheap night out for us. In fact, we are going in a little while.

I used to go to the movies pretty frequently... once I got to college, I had to slow that down a little because I started figuring out how poor I really was, lol... but now I rarely go at ALL. There are some things that I HAVE to see and so I make an effort, but it's become less of a priority now that I'm pretty broke.

I usually don't go to the movies because they are so expensive, but there's a theater in the town over from mine that has movies for $5 a couple weeks after they're in the bigger theaters so if I have to see a movie before it comes out on DVD I go to see them there. I like watching movies in my room because I can turn the subtitles on (I'm slightly deaf in one ear) or pause the movie if I need to which I'm not able to do in theaters.

I know someone who used to go to the movies everyday, just because he likes hanging out in the mall. I never really got that, because I like staying at home. And yeah, who has the money to see every movie ever made? That's why I can't say it was my luxury. I only watch the movies which I'm excited for. I save up for those I really want to see. So there. I still go to the cinema as often as I did when I was younger. :)
