The mode of transportation of most Filipinos especially those with tight budget is the jeepney. It originally was made from the tanks used during the 2nd world war.It was decorated with paints, sceneries, curtains and statues of horses and saints to make appealing look. You can see them all over the country. Nowadays, the minimum fare is seven pesos per 4 kilometer of travel.Customarily, the jeep can contain up to 16 persons excluding the driver

I love riding jeepneys! Its good that my Belgian bf has asked me and he had a ride of a jeepney last May during his vacation here in the Philippines. He has enjoyed his ride and he even pass the fare of the other passengers to the driver and gives back their change as well! I just don't ride jeepneys if I am going for a long travel and I am in hurry, I take the trains instead. My bf was even surprised that women has a special section in the MRT because in their country its not like that!

The problem with jeepney drivers, they tend to overload passengers. If you say 16, then would squeeze in two more passengers. That's 15 pesos already but that leaves the passengers into a very suffocating position. Sometimes even kids will be squeezed badly which is not good because they have frail body. I hope jeepney drivers would think of their passengers' comfort before their profit.

Jeepney has become one of the major transpo I used in my daily travel to my work and back home. It is the most economically convenient mode of transportation for me to use. Although it is the cheapest it is not the most convenient to travel around the metropolis. Especially, when travelling on a bad weather or sunny but if you will choose between a taxi and jeepney you would always chose Jeepney for economic reasons.
Jeepneys have far evolve in becoming one of our own. It was not our own original idea, we just innovated what the American left behind after the war. It was their GI Jeeps that become ours after the War. Now those cars are gone but the technology and our innovativeness made them quite popular and well-known.

Here in Baguio City, using jeepneys as mode of transportation is much preferred because of the kind of terrain the city has. It is a convenient to use as you can smell the breeze; nevertheless, what makes it really inconvenient are the kind of drivers who try to fill their jeepneys to more than the jeepneys' capacity. Another is that there are jeepneys that emit such a bad smog that really irritates the nose. I just hope that LTO would take serious action regarding this problem.

Jeepneys are great if you need to get to somewhere really really fast. LOL. I think if you live in metro manila, there is really no other choice but to ride one, I admit they are very convenient ( in terms of getting from point A to point B) but not really female friendly ( It's really hard to ride a jeep if you're wearing a skirt! LOL)
