How to keep in touch with stepchildren

Our family is pretty well spread out now. I maintain contact with my own two adult children and we speak every week if we can't meet up. Not so my hubby with his two daughters. They both have their own families now and rarely call. It's an even rarer event to meet up with them. Hubby doesn't like making calls and I got fed up with having to be the one who called all the time, so contact got scarcer. But news passes via my daughter who sees one of them from time to time as they don't live too far from each other. However I recently accepted an invitation to join Facebook from someone who wanted to show me photographs. And then I got a message from my stepdaughter. So now we "speak" via Facebook around once a week. It's quite a relief from my guilt of thinking I ought to phone but I have so many other things to do. How do you keep in touch with adult stepchildren?
