Yesterday night I wake up late night chatting and downloading software from net. I had to wake early in the morning to reach the college, I was feeling to slepy. I was controlling my sleepiness too hardly, that you people can't make a guess. At first period my teacher said that there won't be our last class, hearing this I become to happy I think I will reach home fast and will go for a sleep. After secont period we all were happy to go to home but suddenly sir appear in the class. We told him that its our holiday now but he said that holiday has been canciled and we are reading math class then. During the period going on I feel uncontrolably sleey that I could not control myself,so I bend my head down keeping my hand in my forehead and start to sleep. After 20 minutes I open my eyes, my friend asked me if I was ok or not. I said due to overnight walking up ,I am having this problem. I hadn't suffered like this before.

This is so funny.I can almost imagine it. I have felt sleepy in lectures when I was in college. I have also felt sleepy during presentations at work. I remembered something really funny from my college days. I had a friend in college. We used to normally sit besides each other. He wore specs. So when some boring lecture was on he would sleep and due to the glare of the specs he never got caught. If the professor looked in our direction I would wake him up.Fun times. Thanks for starting this discussion.

hi cheee3 I havent sleep in the class as your friend slept. Whenever mine friend and I used to feel sleepy we used to do something funny like eating sweets or pickles which we used to bring in the college. Whenever teacher used to turn toward the board we used to have them and do you know we were never caught. We really have fun.

I get sleepy in class period. Whenever the teacher decides to go teach something on the board or overhead I immediately feel my eyebrows getting heavier and I doze off every now and then. I abruptly wake myself up in shock, so I guess I need more sleep. My classes are very boring and none have me curious so I fall asleep a lot. The best thing to do is to draw or something but look up every now and then so it looks like you are taking notes.

hi oops I dont draw but my some friend used to make picture of our teacher while they are writting in the board and used to show us then we used to laugh a lot and whenever teacher used to turn toward us we used to pretend that we are not laughing but we are writting whathe wrote in the board. We always used to have a escape. Now I have control and I almost try to concentrate my mind toward the teacher leacture

It depends on how the teacher or professor delivers the lecture. If he/she is boring, no doubt that I would fall asleep to it which actually happens to me while I was still studying. I even tried the technique they told me which was to press the certain area between your thumb and index finger finger but it didn't really work. I still felt sleepy everytime I did them.

I experienced such thing also when I was in college. Especially that I majored Statistics and also to include that we were just 7 in the class since our sophomore up to our senior year so I guessed, our professor will not blamed us or myself for being so sleepy enough when it comes to our major classes since we keep on talking about numbers! There was even a time that I cannot anymore absorb what was being taught in the class, so as a result, I really have to review the lessons for that day at home, which mean that I have to sleep late in the evening.

Haha, I have this problem all the time! I'm not in college though, so I bet those lectures can get pretty boring. But a lot of my teachers in high school speak with such a boring, monotonous voice and are so uninteresting that it's like their voice just pulls me into a sleep! I start nodding off, and fight it to try and stay awake until it almost becomes physically painful to not sleep! Dx That's like the most horrible feeling in the world, to me at least. And it doesn't help that you were up the night before doing stuff on the internet! :P

hellow Thanks for the sweet comment I think not only I but all the student feel sleepy specially during the lecture class, so some try to avoid their sleep by taking, but when ever I feel sleepy do u know what I will do, I eat something spicy like pickle, or something sweet like chocolates. My friend always have something in her bag to eat and whenever we feel bore we eat that this give some relief.

It's a very common phenomenon among students. When I was a high school student, I felt very sleepy on politics class and used to sleep. But when I entered college, I seldom slept during the class because there were only 26 students in my class and if I slept, it would be very easy for the teacher to see me sleeping. Lol!! Now, I'm a college teacher, and I find that I'm not a little sleepy. Maybe that's because I have to concentrate on what I'm teaching. I see a few students sleeping in the class, but usually I don't wake them up. I know I was once like them. haha!!

Hello quitemoon!!! haha...Now you made me laugh lol...I didn't notice you sleeping in the class. I think I should have hit you with a ball of paper had I seen it hehe...But I was myself busy talking to Pra, and not looking at the board hehe... I think I don't have to tell you how I sit in the class hehe..You are the live viewer. Most of the time I am always sitting yawning in the class hehe... But yesterday I was not doing that though I slept late, you know... Happy mylotting...

I also always feel sleepy during lectures, especially if the lecture does not catch my interest. My sleepiness during class is usually due to lack of sleep the night before. I am the type of person who usually sleeps at midnight or past midnight. When there is school, I usually just get 5 to 6 hours of sleep. Try sleeping earlier and get at least 7 hours of sleep. Maybe by then, you would not feel that sleepy in class anymore.

Oh i do! I had similar experiences during my college time. Even today i feel sleepy while attending boring presentations. I think the presenter or the teacher should make the session interesting and interactive that will make even a tired person bright! :)

Sometimes i get extremely tired. It doesn't make sense to me because i get a full eight hours of sleep yet i wake up very tired. But it's not because the classes are boring, but because I'm physically exhausted.

It depends on what lecture is going on. If the lecture is boring, i will definitely feel sleepy. To me, if a lecturer is just reading the lecture notes without any special example or explanation, i will fall in sleep very quickly. I remember i have a friend who will fall in sleep no matter what lecture it is. While sleeping, he will keep nodding his head as if he understands everything in the lecture. That situation is damn funny and he never get caught because of that. Well, if a lecture is really interesting, i definitely will not fall in sleep. Instead i would pay more attention to learn more.

Try taking a cotton ball and soaking it in citris juice or essencial oil of citris and then placing it in a ziplock type bag and opening it on the corner of your desk, it will revive you and everyone around you. Be sure and ask those around you if they are allergic to the lemon or orange as you would not want to cause them to have allergic reaction. Also try tensing muscles a small group at a time. If you do this on a regular basis you make it a habit and then it does not even destract you from the lecture. Start this when doing homework and after it is easy then do it in class. If done right no-one will even know it but you and it does have the benefit of exercise to a small degree. It has happened to most of us at one time or another, and not just in class.

i always feel sleepy during college hours.the classes are so boring.most of time i sit in back bench and take a nap.since i have got specs my professors couldn't see whether my eyes are close or open i think this is the best advantage of wearing a glass.i really don't like sitting in class i do it for the sake of attendance as we need 75% attendance for appearing in the university exams.

yeah...remembering those old times, i used to fall as sleep during afternoon lectures. One while i was in the middle of my sleep, a mate before me woke me up, only to find out that they were having an exam and they were half way through it. The good thing, i still made it as i got the 50% passing mark
