How do you pick an NBA playoff referee?

I really don't like to hear teams bellyaching about the officiating but has the NBA brought some of this on themselves? Richard Bavetta who has called championship series games in the league for 23 straight years had his streak ended this year. League says they have a dozen people more qualified. Bavetta has officiated more NBA games than anyone else in history. Who's butt did he forget to kiss? For crying out loud you can't tell me we've been seeing the cream of the crop out there. (Got my facts from Foxsports by the way).

He his tough ref. Yes there are lots of potentials also, but neophyte refs are in the proses of learning. I saw a ref that is rookie ref lots of bad calls and the players are starting to contention with him. Refs is one of the great jobs in the sporting world. Nobodies perfect. Others are good, even good got mistakes even rarity. But I love honest and smart refs. Even good guys are became bad guys cause by bad calls.

Good refs are gold. It is really hard to find someone willing to do the job. It is even harder to train them and keep them.
