well I know I havent been on mylot alot in the last 2 weeks, as I have been very busy with my son graduating from kindergarten...they actually had a ceremony and it was so cute... we have been working on the house and I decided to have a yard sale to get rid of things while we are working on the house.... well it has been slow...I think I chose the wrong weekend... and I am so sad about that too because I have participated in yard sales before with my aunts and have done much better than I have done on my own... I was going to do it back to back, 2 weekends... get rid of the first amount and then go through the house a second time...but I didnt get rid of much this first time around so I dont know if I want to do this again next weekend. What do you think, should I give it another chance?? Have you had a yard sale...basically on your own or with family members?? was it worth it?? ... can you share you stories with me??

I never have had a yard sale or even participated in one. I plan to have one someday but I don't know when. I have a lot of junk I need to get rid of. However, I haven't gone through it all yet and decided what I want to keep. Did you sell any clothes at your yard sale? The reason why I'm asking is because I do have a lot of clothes I need to get rid of. However, my oldest sister said that they don't sell clothes much at yard sales any more. I have seen them on racks at yard sales, though. I dread trying on all those clothes to see which ones I want to keep. I've gained so much weight over the years and I feel like there will be certain ones that were favorites that I can't wear any more. Getting back to your questions, I think it would be a good idea to give it another chance. Kathny.

I see I misspelled my name up there. That was a typo. I'm sure you know who I am, though, lol. Kathy.

I had a bunch of everything since I had gotten stuff from my mother, my mother in law and my aunt... and I put a ton of baby stuff in there... lots of baby clothes. I am sure it would have sold if we had more people, it was just very slow and not many customers. My hubby is saying that we should try it again, so we may do so... LOL thanks for the response, and happy mylotting!! and yes, I knew you just misspelled your name.

Not sure where you live, but in my area, posting your intent to have a yard sale on Craigslist does very well. I put up a few signs around the neighborhood and posted in Craigslist, and I made about $200 at the sale, which was about what I expected to make. Set your prices reasonably, but on the higher end of reasonable. Then be willing to haggle. If you don't think you have enough for another sale to be worth your time, load it all up and take it to Goodwill and be done with it. I simply did my sale in order to make enough room in the garage for my new car.

I know I could have done much better and I have alot of the stuff left over, we just didnt have much traffic...it was like everyone was on vacation....LOL I dont know if people were out at grad parties or what, but it was just really slow and normally our street is really busy... so I know I will try again. thanks for the suggestions, I am going to put them to use!! happy mylotting.

I have done small yard sales before, but they never worked out that well. I did not make the money that I wanted to make, and I found out that certain items will not sell as well as others.

Super cool! I've always wondered if holding a yard sale would be fun. Most likely, we'd have to hold our yard sale at the local flea market. But it could still be fun. Sure, why not give it another try. Also, be on the lookout for stuff you can resell. Often, you can find insane clothing deals online at EBay, like a big box of toddler clothes for under $20 and then resell each item for three dollars a piece. That's some good money waiting to happen! Best of luck. Let us know how round two of the yard sale works out.

It would have been more fun if I had more people show up...LOL but it was just a very slow weekend. I am still debating on having another this weekend... it may be completely different I know!! I have tons of baby clothes... totes and totes... and most of it is in excellent condition... so I know it will sell if I get more people to show...LOL thanks for the response and happy mylotting.

hi bookreadermom08, sorry that luck was not with you this time when you made yard sale. to decide whether you should give it a try or not, compare the benefit you may have and the pain you have to take. comparing the two leads to a decision of trying another time. and you may find luck on your side this time. i do not have a story to share as the concept of yard sale is not at all there in our part of the country. however, things are sold but not in such a organized way. hope you a good luck
