I didn't set the timer.

I made orange marmelade muffins tonight. My recipe will make two dozen muffins. The first pan went in, and came out beautifully. Golden, moist and delicious. I sent three to the young man who lives in the apartment next door. Josh is single and never turns down an opportunity to come share a meal. He had loaned me 1/2 cup butter for my muffins so I sent him the muffins.
We all had a warm muffin while the last dozen were cooking.
In the meantime, my phone rang, I decided to check e-mail and Lauren walked into the closet door in her darkened bedroom and conked her head, while breaking her glasses.
35 minutes later, I suddenly realized that I hadn't heard the timer. It was because I had forgotten to set it. Needless to say the 2nd batch of muffins were quite dark and rather crunchy. They weren't burnt exactly, but certainly can't be eaten. They would make good baseballs or paperweights.
Have you ever forgotten to set a timer while you were cooking and burnt or really overcooked anything?

We kind of look out for each other. THere are 6 of us that live on the back side of the apartment building by the lake and since we are out of the way of most of the rest of the complex, we keep an eye out for the others. My mom is staying with us for a few days while my step dad is in the hospital and I had to tell the neighbors who she was and let them know she'd be going in and out.

we certainly do! We seem to get very blessed in that area most of the time. There have been a couple of instances where the neighbors were less than desirable. One house we lived in, we never saw the neighbors and if we did happen to be outside at the same time, they didn't speak. It was just strange.

Yes, sometimes I forget to set the timer. Then when I realize I didn't set it, I have to try to remember when I but it in the oven. I have sometimes burned the food so it is unedible or sometimes been able to save it. You had alot of distrations that night.

I have many times forgotten to set the timer, but then I smell them cooking and so I can run in and grab them before I make them so burned that they are unedible.
I hate that I burned my muffins though. Man, they would have been so good for breakfast, or tonight after we got in from the hospital from seeing my step dad.

I guess I need to post the recipe. It's actually really easy, and starts with a simple cake mix! I wish cranberries weren't so expensive because I love to put some of them in with the orange. The taste of cranberry with the citrus is wonderful!

I will. I hated that they got burned, because they are some of my favorite muffins. Needless to say, the first dozen are gone, and my hubby is already asking if I'm going to make some more muffins of some kind when I get home from school tomorrow. I think I may make Cherry Chip ones.
