My right foot is swollen and it feels numb. It is a bit like pins and needles. At night I get cramp in my left calf and is really painful. I think that rising the limb can help. It might be fluid that makes limbs swell in later pregnancy. I am 39 weeks and 5 days pregnant. I have a midwife appointment tomorrow morning so I will ask her about the swelling.

I would go to the doctor. It can be signs of pre eclamsia or something like that. NOt trying to scare you but my mom went through it and my sister was delivered two months early because of it. Good luck.

I don't remember what causes the swelling. I think it might be due to the extra weight we have to carry during pregnancy. Our legs just aren't accustomed to it. Though I could always be wrong. It has been a few years since I was pregnant.
My ankles were slightly swollen when I was pregnant with my first born. At least this is what my doctor told me. I honestly didn't notice it! LOL However, with my youngest I made the mistake one day of standing on my feet for too long. That night, man oh man, I woke up to some of the worse leg cramps ever! They were awful! I was so glad when the pain finally subsided and I was able to go back to sleep. I sure wouldn't want to go through that ever again (the leg cramps, that is). It was some of the worst pain I ever felt, it was that painful.
Try to take it easy during these last few weeks. (That of course is easier said than done).
Good luck and congratulations!
