If both are working then u must keep a person to take care on your child, else any one must take care, because the child first wants parents when it feels ill. So a person in ur family must take care on your child, else any one of his/her parents must resigh their job.

Why would a parent not go pick up a sick child from school or have someone else - like a grandparent - pick the child up? If they cared about their kids and did not want to get reported for abuse, they would take care of their kids - even if it ment loosing their job. You can always find another job. Most emplyers understand about sick kids and kids who get in throuble. Normally an employer will not fire a good worker out of the blue with out any notice even if you are out because of a sick child.

If you refuse to leave work to pick up your child at school when he is sick, you could be reported by the school. Instead, is there another family member or a friend you can put on your child's emergency contact list so the school can call them to pick up your child?

If both are working, in the event child falls ill, it is natural one of the parents will take care of the child. Child needs the company of parents at this crucial period. I do not think there is any such rule in any company that can deny sanction of leave for this purpose. It is most humane cause and just. If one goes on leave for months for this purpose, may be salary will be deducted. I do not think any parent with sense will refuse to to on leave to attend to child's needs.

Az is a work to right state. If you miss work to care for an ill child you can legally lose your job. Sucks big time...what I want to know is what kind of idiot makes such a law??
