GM just announced this week the fate of several of its brands. SAAB is being sold to Swedish company Koenigsegg Automakers, Opel between a Russian lender and a Canadian company Magna International. GM has also agreed to sell Saturn to the Penske Automotive Group and is in talks with a Chinese company that wants to purchase Hummer. What do you think of the new changes? Will GM's changes affect your next car purchase?

I find it rather funny that as soon as the economy is doing well, people forget about the bad times. People forget that large corporations go out of business and it all comes as a shock. However, I think when this happens there are always other companies that can benefit from it and help pick up some of the pieces. I think it's good that at least other companies are looking into doing this. For SAAB, especially, I think this will be a could turn around for the company, as the latest models have had a lot of problems. I think the GM changes will definitely affect my next car purchase. I am the type of consumer who wants to wait for a few models to come out before purchasing from these companies.

You're right--I've heard that Swedish cars are pretty good-quality, so I think that could become quite profitable in their country. I'm the same way about buying cars--I tend to wait and see how many recalls there are on certain years and models (I prefer to buy them used). I'm hoping that by cutting off the slack, GM will come out with some better-quality cars now.
