My mother used to make mashed potato doughnuts when i was young. She passed away 9 years ago and since then I have been looking for that recipe of hers. I can't find it no where and no one seems to have it. Sure would appreciate it if anyone has the recipe or knows where I can get it.

Not sure if this will help or not, but here goes.... Mashed Potatoe Donuts Ingredients 3 cups Sugar 3 cups Mashed Potatoes 6 eggs 1/2 cup Vegitable oil 1 and 1/2 cups Milk 8 cups Flour 5 Tablespoons Baking Powder Mix sugar and potatoes untill they are the consistancy of paste Add eggs and beat, add remaining ingredients and mix well place dough on a floured surface and roll out to 1/2 inch thickness, and cut with donut cutter. In a deep fryer, or deep frying pan, heat oil to 370 degrees farenheit, drop in donuts and cook for a minute and a half on each side or untill golden brown. place on paper towels to drain any exces oil and to cool a little.... then Enjoy

I hope they turn out well for you, be sure to let us all know if they even came close to the ones you remember. I've never tried them myself but I might have to and see if they're any good.

Mom used to make them and we called them spudnuts because potatoes are sometimes called spuds. (I have no idea where that came from!) I went looking for recipes by that name. Here's one that looks like what she might have used, without the lemon juice or lemon zest. http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Spudnuts/Detail.aspx

I'm sorry, I gave you the wrong link. I looked at both at the same time and picked up the wrong one. Here is the right one, sans lemon stuff: http://hungrybrowser.com/phaedrus/m012403.htm You have to scroll down a little to find it.

Mashed potato donuts - Mashed potato donuts, never heard of them.
I have never heard of mashed potato donuts, are they light or heavy? I went online and found a recipe, not sure if it contains the ingredients your mother used to use.http://southernfood.about.com/od/doughnutsandfritters/r/blbb717.htm I glimpse at another that called for cinnamin. My mother used to make potato pancakes, from leftover mashed potatoes. Hope you can find the recipe that is similiar to your mother's.

It sounds pretty close and thank you so much for taking the time to look it up. I think my mother used to use cinnamon in it. i will definitly try this recipe and let you know how it comes out. They are light donuts and the mashed potato makes them stay moist longer. Try it if you like donuts/..
