Apparently the tank was full...

The last month or so when i did laundry i noticed that there was puddle by the drain. Then the toilet started draining slow and tub too. So i asked my dad about it he's the house fixer person and he says oh the septic tank for the solids must need to be pumped out. I asked if i called the guy and had him come out if we just lifted the lid off what i thought was the tank. Dad says no...thats just liquids... you have dig out the lid for the solids. I'm like theresa more than one tank???? He's like yep. I asked where it was and i was informed that it was under one of the dips in my yard (my yard is rather dippy) so i asked which one. And didnt get an answer. I asked againa couple days later and got snapped at. So I started taking my laundry over to mom and dads and doing it there...and having showers there. Dad came over sunday and helped me dig a 3.5 diameter hole about 4 feet deep to get the tank open. I called the guy to ask to have him come pump it out and he asked why i thought it needed it. I told him Dad says. and then informed him that we had dug out the lid so it can be pumped out and he asked why we dug it out. I said Dad said...and it was several feet under the dirt. He asked again why dad thought it needed to be pumped out and i said well it might have to do with the fact that the sewer is coming up in the basement and he goes OH I'll be there tomorrow. Well it was so full (apparently hasnt been pumped out since well atleast 12 years ago when my grandpa was alive because dad said grandpa helped him dig it out last time) Its so full i have to get it pumped out a second time. Do you have a septic tank? Or are you lucky and live in the city? Did you know that septic tanks are supposed to be pumped out every three years? I sure didnt.
