hi emjozar There is a lot of best defense for black for e4 players, it really depends on your style of play. If you want to play solid defenses but a little bit cramp game on your side, you could choose the french or caro kann. If you want double edge game and looking for a win as black Sicilian (or Even Caro Kann) defense will do. It really depends, but it is more important to have preparations as it really vital now on this game.

I agree with you 100%. Any opening against the e4 would be fine as long as you have studied your chosen opening very deeply. In this case, it would be advantageous if you have a book on chess openings that particularly studies your chosen opening system to understand the main theory of that opening, the good variations to choose from, and a lot of good ideas you can use in practical play :)

well......I play e4 and I think pirc sucks against e4 and sicilian is quite interesting. Sicilian and french I support!!! French has some really interesting lines but You'd have to really study the french to be good at the interesting and deadly lines. Sicilian is really cool as long as you don't go into the dragon variation. The dragon variation, always loses....that is if you are good at chess. But really wen im black no matter wat move is played, I always use e5, i rarely lose as black and I know all the good lines after e5. I don't encourage e5 after e4 because it's very boring and lot's of practice is required to win a e4-e5 game as black. Hope I answered your question!! If not my answer is French, once you take the time to learn the lines
