Can life have meaning if it was created for a purpose?

Did God create us to have a relationship with him? Is this why God created a universe fit for human lives, why he laid down guidelines for how to live our lives? Not to my surprise, many of us are still seeking the true meaning of life. I believe we can find the true meaning of life if we know the reason of our creation. If we want to find it then we need to ask why we were put here. From your belief or your own point of view, why were you created at the first place? What is life to you?

Understanding our purpose helps us to understand the purpose behind so many other things. We see the universe and the Earth, as what God created for us, so that we might be created as well. We can know that each and every human being has potential, they can choose to know God as easily as we can. God wants us to be in fellowship with Him, He created us for His purposes. I hear people often state the opinion that man is the blight of our planet, that Earth would be better off without man. Some even advocate a kind of voluntary extinction, so that man would disappear and the Earth could go on without him. Earth then would be a paradise, they say. But what purpose is there for Earth without us? Whether it sounds egotistical or not, God created Earth for man, and not the other way around. We need to respect our planet, but not worship it. So many will ignore the plight of needy people yet become vocal about issues of environmentalism. I would listen to someone tell me about saving trees, if first they told me they cared about human lives. Knowing how important you are to God, helps you to understand how important each and every other person is to God. Understanding our purpose helps us to give value to the purpose of others as well and would lead to a better world.

Just right timing!!!I just posted a very similar answer in a different discussion. The purpose of Life and creation IS TO BE LOVED AND TO LOVE GOD.To understand the reasoning you later brought out,we must understand that God IS LOVE and he has infinte capacity to Love. But don't mistranslate that such God shouldn't allow the problems in my life.Thats not great to do so.Have a nice day!!!

well, according to the first question from the westminster shortest catechism, the chief end of man is to glorify Him and enjoy Him forever... so this should be my purpose living in this world... we are created being a religious person and our souls will never find comfort until we find Him... we tend to find our solace and purpose of life in material things... but that will not satisfy our souls as we are created to worship our Creator and glorify Him but at the same time enjoying Him as well... take care and have a nice day...

Yes, I was created for a propose and that propose is to have a relationship with God. To believe his word, follow it and be blessed. I have a Mighty God and Father He is able to do abundantly more than I can ask or think. Have a nice day.

Well – to me all of what you ask is true: God created the universe and the planet that we live on for “us.” The Bible teaches that life does not consist of an abundance of earthly goods, but it is more of what we gather into our spiritual lives – mainly, having a meaningful relationship with the Father, through His Son Jesus. Life is full of joys and sorrows whether one does the above or not – but to me, it is far easier to get through things with the help of the Lord, as I am experiencing at this time. Ijust lost my husband of over 50 years April 30, and I couldn’t be making it through this without my faith and all of the help I’ve received from my children and my church family. Have a great week.

Life will be empty without a purpose. We need to ask our self often what we are doing here and why we are here. Its better to die a few days having been born fulfilling your purpose than to live a thousand years not having to matter at all. Just imagine how boring it might be constantly letting time to fleet without doing anything. Every creature has a certain function like every part of our body its not just there to keep, its there to do something valuable no matter how little it may be. It's sad that some people may die without knowing why they're here, I wonder what they even do in their lifetime. God did not force us to abide the guidelines... he has given us free will but its made available coz we do not know what's good for us, which is why he needs to tell us. Human beings are innate stubborn coz they don't know the outcome of their actions until consequences take place, but GOD knows, he knows everything, he knows us inside out even the choices we will make before we even make them. It's upto to us if we will listen to him or not; but because GOD is so loving he forgives us, constantly giving us more chances to rectify our error and start again. That's the main reason why he gave us freedom of choice, so that we can love him on our own free will... Love is much sweeter when it is not forced but rather given willingly...

i believe life was created for a purpose and that purpose is to appreciate life and do whatever we can to help others in need, we also know very well that God created life so that we can appreciate is power and the beautiful things he had made for us, but man has created so many evuil things that makes the word so meaningless

I believe God created us to serve Him and others who need help. Even Jesus did not come to be served, but to serve - "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many" (Mark 10:45). God wants more than anything for us to have a personal relationship with him. He created us for Himself. The best part is that God doesn't demand that we have mountains of faith before He acts on our behalf; faith the size of a mustard seed is all He requires, and He will supply what we lack.
