I loged on today and noticed I had recieved a message from a mylot friend. All it contained was a link to a post created yesterday by this friend. I was wondering: could this be a sign or a person excited to see my response, or something else? I did not mind the message and wrote a short note back, but was wondering about the etiquite for such things. Any help would be appriciated.

How much attention does this person want from you? This sounds as if it's entirely too much!

Personally, I find this to be rude. It's just saying pay attention to me!!! I don't know about you, but I try & check my friends discussions daily. I also try & respond, but sometimes I don't have anything of importance to add. Occasionally I miss one, but would resent the nudge to pay attention. If they had said I did this discussion yesterday & would love to see your opinion. maybe I would feel differently. Just to send the link is like demanding you respond. I definitely wouldn't have responded to that discussion out of stubbornness. I don't know that I would have replied to the message either. Since you said it didn't bother you, I take it you look at it differently. I don't think there is a particular etiquette, only what you feel is best for you. I would also consider how good of friends I am with the person too. If it's just somebody on my friends list, I'd stick with what I've said. If it is somebody I've grown close to here, then I'd probably consider it a little more.

I am only real friends with one person here and we discuss this site all the time in the real world. I just thought it was interesting because lately I have been posting more discussions and although I have 4 pages of friends (people that have requested me as friends) it is seldom if ever that they respond to my discussions. Thats cool. But I would never send them a message, to me that is real close to being a door to door salesman on the internet. Thank you very much for the response. Have a great day.
