I have accumulated a bunch of unresolved responses and I have started rating it. Some of the discussions is really hard to give a Best Response because it is either has more than 1 good response or all of the responses are just average response. It would be a good idea that we can rate top 3, don't you think so? How do you decide to rate a best response when it comes to more than 1 good one?

I'm fairly new on mylot, i choose my best responses by how i feel when i read them. Are they funny? have they actually read the discussion topic? have they helped me? does their reply seem honest and accurate? Each person has their own opinions i guess..

Hi there! I can understand your predicament. It is sometimes really difficult to select the best responses. Some of the responses are equally good and one needs to scratch his head to arrive at a decision. Unfortunately, I have many unresolved discussions lying pending, which needs to be resolved, however, when I see that those discussions have numerous responses say more than 60-70, then I close the window for some other time to decide. Reading all the 60-70 responses again is tedious job........LOL!. However, we must resolve our all discussion, as soon as possible.

We will have to accomplish the tedious job (as others do for us, marking our responses as the best responses)

Yes, it certainly is a tedious job to go through more than 50 responses!

Hello mermaidivy, I do have many unresolved discussions though I don't post too many Normally, I just keep the discussions open until a month or more before I decide on my best response. Sometimes, when I read a response and find that it is a good one I have till date, I will just mark immediately. I think it is good to have one best response though at times, it is hard to select one.

Hi mermaid...Sometimes it is difficult to give out a single best response. Most of the time I rate the best one the one that was the nicest or shared something very personal which I'm sure was difficult. Good luck to you!

I'm giving a best response based on the most true point and meaning of my started discussions. No need to have a perfect grammar words. If the response was the same or match with whats on my head, then i'll give my best response.

hi i usually do not rate any response as best coz i wud b doing injustice to other responders. but today i did give best response to one of my friend-it was just a reciprocal gesture-she has given me 2 or 3 best responses-coz i m one of very few who regularly responds to her response.

Maybe you can open another window as well as doing replies and tasks, it only takes you 1-2 minutes to rate one discussion ;-) that's what I do too, I open couple windows and do all the posts :-)

Hi there, I have been in similar situation too. Earlier I used to select a BR after seven days or more but now have not rated or selected for a long time. The reason is identical of yours. In some discussion the response are almost similar and in some just average and in some yet most are excellent. Now who would you pick up for a BR in such condition. But I will see to night to resolve some of them.

I look for good quality responses to my discussions, and that they stick to the discussion at hand. Sometimes, it is hard to pick the best response, if there are several quality responses. In that cast, I choose the best one of those. If they are just a few word responses, with no substance, then they aren't even considered at all. I don't even rate those kind of responses either. I try to give best response to all my discussions, but I do wait for a few days to see if I will gat anymore responses before I decide to give best response. Well, good luck to you and happy mylotting.

Yes, I do the same thing too, I just leave a bunch of discussions for more than a week and revise and rate it after the week so people won't miss to get a best response :-)

mainly by relevance, although sometimes there are a few really good responses and in that case i can only pick the first best. i don't give best responses when i've started a discussion in the politics section because it's too tempting to just choose those that you agree with. anyway that reminds me to go back to my discussions and start marking...

Well, I have a procedure to rate the best response!! It goes like, Firstly, does it relate to the topic. I mean, is the person responding just to increase his posts writing irrelevant stuff like that. Secondly, is it a solution to my woe or in case of opinion does that satisfy me??!! Then, the way a person writes. Like, is he kind or just using rash words pulling you off (this hasn't happened with me yet). And then, I select the best response. I have just 1 discussion remaining to be resolved.
