When I start to think deeply about life and such, I get depressed. I also hear a lot about how people with higher intelligence are normally more depressed. Just wondering if its possible to be a deep thinker and be happy. Anyone care to respond?

Perhaps yes, but not in oneself's own eyes. One van be a happy and jolly mooded person in the world's view, but yes, this thing always stands true in that absolute case only. The time you make yourself the prspective, everything will become serious again, if not sad. However, be an odd one in the world, TRY TO BE A THINKER & BEING HAPPY AT THE SAME TIME. Its good to be practiced out there.

hi,kheng69! deep thinkers with high intelligence notices more shortcomings of life and society,so they tend to be unphappy because they aren't satisfied,I suppose. though they can aquire more knowledge than common people, they understand more fully the unknown of the world and human.though they can reach grander achievements they ask for themselves in a higher standard.so it's not suprised that they feel depressed instead of happy.perhaps they don't care about happiness very much...who knows? I am a common person and care for my happy. hope you happy too!

A deep thinker is almost automatically happy. He or she recognizes the beauty in the Universe and its people, all far more important and splendid than the problems.

deep thinker can always be happy but they have to neglect the word of outsiders.. deep thinker can create miracles as the can reach the solution according to the situation and work on it... if you get depressed the start thinking about the happy moment which you spend that will make you get out of depression ... hope you will work on it..

Well i'm not too sure of it but as the old saying goes... Ignorance is indeed Bliss.... A higher intelligence means a deeper understanding of things and i personally believe that it can lead both deperession and happiness.... Sometimes we end up seeing the beauty of it all and sometimes....well you simply realize how screwed up things really are....

Happiness is a matter of perception. Happiness is contentment. Have you ever tried to get something you've always wanted to have for so long? When you had it, you felt contented, you felt happy. So happiness is a matter of achieving whatever it is we desire, whatever it is we need, fulfilling whatever it is we seek. Some may feel happy or contented being around people, some when they're walking with other people, some when they eat a lot...it differs from person to person. Deep thinkers love what they do, they find fulfillment in what they do and it is what makes them happy. People with higher intelligence aren't normally more depressed, it's just how the world perceives them. What if this depression is actually a part of what gives them contentment and happiness? What if this is their own happiness? It's just as good as saying the insane people are insane and we are not normal. But what if the truth of being normal is on their side? That they are truly normal and we are insane? Happiness is relative and one definition does not necessarily apply to all.
