Oh man was that good. I planted a strawberry plant in a big pot last year but it grew so fast I had to move it into a raised bed where we normally plant flowers. The box is almost 3 feet wide by 8 feet long and this year it has almost filled the box. I cut off any flowers last year to give it strength for rooting although I don't think I needed to it grew so fast, but then maybe it did that because I cut the flowers off. I guess we will never know now. But this year I expected some strawberries. The thing is I didn't expect them for another few weeks at least but over the past few day strawberries have appeared and some even started turning red. It was all I could do to keep from plucking one and munching it down right then but I knew I would appreciate the results if I waited just a few more days. Well last night, once Jenny was home from work, I went and took the ripest one from the garden and shared it with her. It was by far the best tasting strawberry I have ever tasted. It almost brought me to tears. How is your gardening coming along?

My garden is coming along beautifully. We have had leaf lettuce and green onions so far out of it and the rest of the plants are coming along. I don't think we will be having any strawberries though as we had a frost that killes most of the bloom that was on them so I am hoping that we get some in the farmers market that we have here in our little town soon. I bought some at the grocery store and I should have just saved my money because they tasted as much like strawberries as the container would have. Glad to hear that you are going to have some home grown ones. I will have to wait until next year for mine.. flutterby

Wow you have had a lettuce and onions. The only thing growing so far for us is corn and radishes along with the tomato plants we planted. But our strawberries and rhubarb are doing well. Except for the strawberries the birds are eating, but we bought a net to put over them that will keep them out. We just have to wait for the wind and rain to stop. It's been weeks and we just keep getting rain and wind.

Hi WebMann...It is funny..I belong to alot of free sample groups and one of them sent me a free package of organic leaf lettuce. So I said what the heck..I'll plant it and see what it does. It did beautiful. We have picked enough for my husband and I to each have a salad from it and in a couple days there should be more to pick. flutterby

it is so great to eat your own home grown strawberries. It is more rewarding to eat when you are the one who planted it. I have my own garden before where i planted vegetables and when the time comes for harvest I told my father that I should be the one to taste it first. lol.

That is so true. I think it's only fair for the gardener to get the first taste.

It must be sweet, how i wish that i can have strawberries in our backyard but it will never happens because in our place have hot climate, i think it just grow in a cold places. But other places in our country have strawberry farm because of its cold weather. Here in our backyard we have only flowers like orchids, roses and other beautiful flowers.

Yeah it was sweet. That's to bad that you can't grow your own strawberries. But we love flowers to and we grow more each year.
