I work at a portrait studio now and have been in photography for the last 2 months, part of me wants to go to school and learn enough about photography and how to run a small business. The other part is worried that photography is a dying business with so many people doing their own photography with digital cameras & photoshop. Is it worth all that school ,money & time?

There are many ways to own a photography business. Since the internet age and digital photography, online internet business is one that you should look into. Is easy to start up, minimum cost and big audience. Check out this article on how to sell your stock photos and earn money http://www.squidoo.com/MonetizeDigitalPhotos Here's what USA today got to say about "6 Figure Photography" http://turnyourphotosintocash.com/go.php?offer=nix74&pid=5

The huge number of cameras sold does not say anything about the quality of pictures taken. Typical pictures are poor and photography of this kind has little to do with professional photography. So many photographs fill our lives today that people's expectations have become very high; but they rarely achieve anything to match what they see on screen or in their magazines: this has generated a hunger for really good photography. Get you business properly organised, target your market, and even an average photographer can do well.

Photography is definitely NOT a dying business! My father is an accountant and he does bookkeeping and taxes for several professional photographers and they all make 6 figure incomes. Even with all of the many photographers out there, you can still be very successful as a photographer! Plus, there are so many different photography fields you can go into! Wedding photography, portrait photography, photojournalism, commercial product photography, stock photography, movie set photography, biomedical photography, investigative photography, art photography, just to name a few! There will always be a need for photographers! Just look around the room you're in right now and see how many photographs you can spot! I say if you're passionate about it, go for it!!! If you go into it just wanting to make a lot of money, then you won't be successful. You really have to love what you do.
