Ok - so the end of the school year is now upon us adn I'm in search of a gift to give to my daughter's grade 2 teacher. I had mentioned this to my friend (Who also has kids) and she said that she never buy the teacher a gift....I usually by her teachers a gift every year at the end of school - something small like a travel mug or something. Anyhow, I always thought it was normal to buy a gift for the teacher - you know, to say thank you for teaching the kids, etc....Do you buy your child's teaacher a gift? If so, what are some things that you buy so that I can be creative this year...

Best I can recall, I did not buy the teachers a gift. Just never crossed my mind. However, I very much appreciated our girl's teachers. I make some items with plastic canvas and if I had the pattern years ago for my "hug" hanging, which is very small, I would have given to our girls to give their teachers. Would have been appropriate moreso for grade school teachers.

When I was a teacher I used to receive gifts from most of the parents. I got a lot of mugs, some cute teacher things like a small chalkboard, and apple decoration, things like that. I also received boxes of chocolates, gift cards for restaurants, coffee, movies, and things like that. It's not necessary to spend a lot, just get a little something to show you appreciate her.

It is always a wonderful gesture to give the teacher something. I use to give one of his school pictures in a small frame along with him making a home made card for them.

I have never bought my child's teacher a gift, because the school has called for a ban on gifts to teachers from students parents. However,China's Teacher's Day every year,my child will send cards made from himself to teachers.I just sent some of messages thanking for the teachers through the mobile and internet.

I do not have a kid but if I were to give something, I would probably give her a Thank You card. I believe that would give the message of my appreciation for the whole school year that she had taught my child.
