My overprice bath salt is just about finish so I went to GNC to buy essentials oil so I can make my own. The darn thing cost $8.99. I was at Walmart earlier and found fragrance oil. The bottle states add to potpourri and I think burner. I was wondering can I use this to make my bath salt or is there a difference.

Although Essential oils are expensive at retail stores you can get them a little cheaper for a larger quantity if you buy it wholesale and bulk online.

fragrance oils aren't designed to go on the skin. they're designed to use to scent rooms without ever touching someone. essential oils are more expensive, but have theraputic effects. because the effects of the oil on your emotions isn't just from the smell. it's from the oils being absorbed into the bloodstream and having a physical, chemical effect on the body. obviously just because something is an essential oil doesn't automatically make it safe. if you're using oils you should get a good book that tells you what you can use in what amounts, and for what. after all, many plants out there have quite fearsome results on the human body, so we need to be aware that natural doesn't mean safe. so. get essential oils. plenty are quite affordable, and some are very very expensive (5ml of Rose essential oil cost me around £30, but it's very worth it, it's such a wonderful and useful oil)
