Fix My Task Bar! Perty Please!

My kids about 2 weeks ago had somehow messed up my Vista Task Bar, I have it on Auto Hide & I've check & unchecked ect & applied my changes and still I have to press the "windows" key on my keyboard for the taksbar to also come up. My hubby has looked at it & he knows how to fix 95% of the problems on a pc but has no idea what on earth my kids did to lock the task bar in a hidden mode. Either way it's driving me nutty trying to pop from window to window cause I have to hit that key to see my task bar. HELP! thanks :)
