Have you been diagnosed with depression?

How are you coping? What has the doctor prescribed? Do you take medication? What do you think about this diagnosis? Are you seeking help from therapists? Have you been hospitalized for this? Considered electro-shock treatments?

Self diagnosed and treated by a naturopath, combination of herbs and other things, therapy to learn how to be happy again. No hospitalization or anything dramatic. I'm doing OK with it.

Each person is their own best healer. We know best what WE need. I am happy to hear you are doing ok. Is there a way to be more than OK? Did you know JOY increases the hormone DHEA? which is responsible for balancing all the other hormones?

Well I'm working on it but I'm sort of caught in a "can't go this way, can't go that way" kind of a situation...

Debrakcarey, you have hit my nail on its head! I was first diagnosed at age three! Everyone on my father's side of the family is deeply depressed or bipolar, and there's not a single exception! I'm presently on a very low dose of Prozac, and I have the greatest therapist imaginable. In addition, my husband is amazingly supportive and helpful. With all that going for me, I do very well almost all the time.

I am an abuse survivor. I've been diagnosed with PTSD. I was on meds for four years after my diagnosis. Didn't care for how they made me feel. So I researched and started using herbs and supplements. Found out that I could deal with it this way much better. I also found a great therapists...I saw him for a few years and learned to think differently. Not your standard...'positive' thinking. But more like relearning to approach life. I'm glad you are doing well...I struggle with anxiety some....but not enough to disable me.
