Are You The Right Bone Marrow Donor?

The Daily Mail article just sent out a nation or rather world wide plea for a bone marrow donor for a young mother of two who is suffering from leukemia. As, I am not qualified to be one here, I just felt that I could do my part by bringing this up in this forum. Who knows we just might find one qualified donor, so do not hesitate if you are around her area and would like to do so. Karla Neckles is just 21 years of age but due to a white mother and father who is part Grenadian, only a few people of mixed race could provide her with the bone marrow she needs. As you can see, this is really a rare race and I hope there will be someone out here to help her out. Do have a heart. cynthiann, It is sad indeed but as you can see here, she is of a rare race. As such, finding the right donor here is really going to be an uphill task. I just hope and pray that a donor will be found soon. Have a nice day.

While this will not help the woman needing a transplant, people expecting a child should consider paying a company to store the cord blood from their newborn. Leukemia is the leading childhood cancer, but for any aggressive cancer that needs a bone marrow transplant, a person's own cord blood IS THE BEST SOLUTION. The doctors can aggressively kill off a cancer finishing with toxic chemotherapy. Once the poison is cleared from the body a bone marrow transplant or, better yet, one's own cord blood allows a person a second chance at life. Last I read, companies charged under $4,000 to keep cord blood on liquid nitrogen.

SteveSlaton, Well, you've certainly brought up some valid points here, however, it is not just a matter of the kept cord blood. As you would have realized from the article, the ill patient here is of a rare race, which is making the find much an uphill task. So, if you might have associations with this certain race of people then perhaps you can help spread the word around. Other than that, I suppose we can just pray and wait. Have a nice day.
