By foundations I mean buyings socks, bra's, undies and such things we use daily but don't need constant replacement.
I thought about this while I was sorting out my basket of socks & undies.... mainly where did they all go to??? I bought 3 pkgs of socks for my son & 3 for the girls and it seems like they've all vanished. And of course some of the other items are looking a lil shabby.
I think the best time to buy is probably "back to school"....
when do you expect to find the best deals on such things?

I would think it would be after Christmas, when everything is marked down. Especially January. Of course, if you need them now you need them now, especially if the children are growing like weeds--as they all do! I used to buy my boys underwear in two or three sizes when they were growing up until they got past the S, M and L sizes. Saved quite a bit of money that way and I bought them in solid colors. They liked bright colors, stripes, etc.
I remember when my oldest decided he was switching to boxers--the youngest had a bonanza of new underwear! Poor Lew was stuck with just a few pair until boxers went on sale again.
Anyway, I got the best deals around January when the styles for Spring would be coming in (strange timing, isn't it?!) and nobody needed underwear and socks for the beginning of a school year.

Yeah that's the only time I'd think they'd be on sale. I run occasionally on a pkg or two for cheap @ k-mart but I like to stock up just like you did. My 20mo old ds has up to size 6 in undies waiting for him as I found a couple pkgs down to $1.50 for Speed Racer undies.

season changes and after christmas.
my mom used to work for a salvation army and you wouldn't believe the donations of brand new clothes they used to get from the stores when it went from say summer to winter.they couldn't sell their stuff,so they'd dump them all down there.
and i mean brand new.

Sounds awsome to find all that & new! But usually undies & socks don't really get marked down unless they have a theme to them you know like the 4th of July. Not your plain jane...
