Then go to the following website - it will be midnight in a few minutes here, and you can see how light the summer night is. Maybe you cannot see the sun directly, but I live more in south and can see the sun from my kitchen window very soon. http://194.117.186.205/view/view.shtml So go ahead and watch, it will rise soon - and this time of the year it should be seen overt the horizon at midnight if you are standing on a high place, a hill or a higher house.

So you mean the sun rises at midnight that's why it's called "Midnight sun"? I thought it's called midnight sun because it's stays in the sky 24 hours. It really feels magical even watching online. But I would really love to see it in person someday soon. I bet it's even more magical and will be unforgettable for me.

Further up in the North the sun never goes down during some days or even weeks. But here it can hide behind the hills but is still just above the horizon depending on where you watch it from. Then it moves up from that position. The sun was actually visible at midnight and will be there tomorrow night as well but the web camera is showing the southern sky, the opposite side - but after a while you could see the sun reflected in the water. This place is near the border to Finland so the actual midnight is at 12.30 a m during summer time, the same time zone as Brussels and Madrid has, or +1 hour Greenwich.

OH I see, that is whey I see water. But nevertheless it was pretty breathtaking to see how bright it is at midnight. It will be in my "To do" list to visit Scandinavia in the near future and witness this wonder. I'd love to go fishing at midnight.

Wow that's really nice, coz here in the city I can't pretty much see the sun coming up as it is covered by tall buildings.

Well, you can watch the webcamera and see everything turning lighter. The sun is shining almost directly from North now right into my apartment. Yes there are some advantages living in the country.. It is a good thing that others can see the beauty here near the Arctic Circle through a webcamera.
