Safety Belts, do you always wear one?

We didn't wear safety belts until we started having kids. We realized it didn't make much sense to buckle the kids in and not ourselves, that's when we started buckling up too. If we started to go somewhere and one of us hadn't buckled our seat belt our kids would say something! It's become habit now. Another good reason to wear one is you can be pulled over and ticketed just for not wearing a seat belt even if you're not doing anything else wrong. I don't want a ticket on my record!

I always buckle up and have since I took driver's ed in highschool (when I was 16). Before that I never wore a seat belt and my parents never made me. My dad still refuses to wear one. I also always buckle all the kids up (they are all still in carseats/boosters--they are 6, 5, 4 and 7 months). My husband doesn't like to wear a seat belt either but our 4 year old is very safety conscience. Every time we get in the car she tells daddy to "buckle up so you can be safe." She learned that from watching Dora the Explorer. She will cry if he doesn't buckle his seat belt before we leave the parking lot.

I always wear my seat belt. My friends and I don't start the car until everyone is buckled up. My friend's dad stopped the car on the road because we weren't buckled up. I mean it is the law, I don't want to get fined simply because I'm not wearing a belt.

he that is a very good habbit even i do the same and make it a point that every one in the car wear seat belts cause if something happends then it will protect them and not me

Even if it wasn't a state law in my state, I would wear the safety belts as well as make the passengers in the car wear them. They really do save lives, so why would someone not wear them?

i do it because it is in strict violation in india not to wear a seat belt and all this is done for us so i guess it is definitely necessary

I always buckle up. I had to in driving school so I just kept on using them. its a good habit to get into.

I don't drive but I always make sure to have my seat belt on even if it's just for a quick two-minute drive. Better safe than sorry.

Now Ofcourse Yes ! I am from India, we never had this practice of wearing safety belts before ! The reaso was simple unawareness !! The Car models what we used to have in thosec days never used to have any safty belts in them and naturally people were never aware of them. Them by the introduction of Maruti car, a suzuki collaboration vehicle they have introduced the seat/ safty belts. These initial Maruti Cars never had any safety belts, later on they have added them. Having added these belts, no body taught the general public about their importance and thats why no body really never careda bout them. If some educated lot or informed lot used to wear them, then others would laugh at them, which made the former lot discouraged and they also would discontinue the practice. But with the increased number of Vehicles and the quality of vehicles road accidents have gone up and then government having realised this has started campaining about the importance of safety belts. Many a people started using them but there were still quite a good number of people who were reluctant to use these belts. Smelling this government of India hs made it mandatory and then to avoid heavy penalty and harassment by Police people have started using these sfety belts and today it has become a habit for them and almost all of them they use them , including me !
