What can be done to encourage people to purchase music instead of downloading songs illegally? Please share.

I think, that nothing special can be done, because the main problems is price of albums and singles. And if record companies cut down the prices they'll be getting less profit, so it is undoable. If I am going to buy some albums, then I would choose the older ones, because they cost less. Of course it doesn't mean they are worse than new albums.

One thing they should stop doing is exclusive releases. For example, some bands and singers have exclusive songs available to download on Itunes. The fact that not every likes/ uses Itunes can force people to download the track illegally. As someone who buys all of their songs on CD Albums, I find it annoying if my favourite bands and singers have songs only available to download and I am unable to get them.

I think that music is too expensive! I personally think that if they made music cheaper to bgut people wouldnt download so much illegally. People cant afford to spend too much money these days so if they can get something free they will! The companies arent going to lose much money if they make things a bit cheaper.
