I have been listening to a lot of Croatian and Serbian music. There is a Romanian program that is on the radio just before the Croatian one starts, and if I turn on the radio early before the Croatian show starts, I can hear a bit of the Romanian program, and I'm starting to recognize a few words there. The list of languages I can recognize on hearing them, even if I can't understand them are: Croatian/Serbian Danish French Spanish Italian German Swedish Greek (I'm listening to the Greek program on CKWR right now) Russian Ukranian Hungarian Chinese Japanese The ethnic programs I like are on ckwr.com starting at 2:30 with the Croatian program. That's 2:30 Eastern Standard Time. The Romanian program is just before that one.

And I forgot to mention the programs I mentioned are on Sundays. There are also some on Saturdays, including another Romanian program, I think. Check ckwr.com schedule for details, and listen on line if you're interested.

Well I live in India, and here itself there are a lot of languages leave alone other globally spoken languages. I can very well understand, English, Hindi (National Language of India), and a few regional languages of India i.e. Marathi, Punjabi, Gujrati and Bhojpuri. Amongst other national languages I can understand French only! I have plans to join a German and Japanese language class soon after my final semester exams.

Hi. I'm Chinese, and I can recognise English, Japanese, Hindi, French, Korean, Russian, southern Asian, and Arabic. Perhaps it's because I study languages.

I can recognize Italian, French, Spanish, German, Thai, Korean, Chinese, Japanese and they are not my languages. I'm from the Philippines but having to have worked with different people, nationalities and tongue, I had the privilege of getting exposed to other languages apart from English and other major Philippine languages. I think German would be a little bit more complicated though because it is similar to Dutch. But if the conversation is long enough I can definitely tell if it's German or not. Also Chinese has two types--Mandarin and Cantonese. Actually, I don't think I can recognize Chinese at all because it's the same with Taiwanese.

i can recognize some like English, Spanish, (but i could not differentiate Portuguese from Spanish because they seem to be the same). I will know French only but i will not understand a word. lol!! i can recognize 5 to 7 dialects in Filipino. Tagalog, Visayan-Cebu, Chabakano, Ilonggo, Ilocano, Dabawnon, and Muslim (Maguindanauan). but of course i dont understand it all. i can only speak 3 dialects. Am fluent in Tagalog and Visayan-cebu, and not so fluent ilonggo.
