Farmers cut cows' greenhouse gas emissions by altering diets.Coventry Valley Farm is one of 15 Vermont farms working with Stonyfield Farm Inc., whose yogurt is made with their organic milk, to reduce the cows' intestinal methane by feeding them flaxseed, alfalfa, and grasses high in Omega 3 fatty acids. The gas cows belch is the dairy industry's biggest greenhouse gas contributor, research shows, most of it emitted from the front and not the back end of the cow. lol.. How has changing your diet affected you?

Wow,I had never really thought of it that way before and never really knew about the greenhouse gas effect. Well when I diet I eat alot of yogurt. I have tried the Organic Stonyfield Farm yogurt and didn't like it as well as some of the other ones I bought. I do know that when I diet I also eat alot of raw fresh vegetables and fruit like the cows...Thanks for the information it is always good to learn something new everyday.

This isn't because dairy farmers want to help with the greenhouse effect, sad to say. This, and probably many other farms to follow soon, is the result of the tax that the EPA wants to levy on the methane emissions that cows create. I did a discussion on it about two weeks ago: http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2036269.aspx I wonder if farms that decide to change the diet of the cows and other things to reduce these emissions will get a tax break, if this thing passes.

Ok... a cow farm is buying organic milk products to feed to their cows? Isn't that kind of like insulting the cows?
