My thoughts on this are that one Band started the escalating into the true rock that we hear today. Black Sabbath. even though some people say Ozzy's lyrics were meaningless, pointless, or even stupid i cant believe them. He and his band started the new rock revolution and in turn even created a new genre of music. Heavy Metal. Ozzy will live on in my heart even after he dies. The prince of darkness is forever!

The rock is not always good or positive in its lyrics. That's why I don't like rock except Islamic rock.

I think the first rock bands are those from the 60's,those who started using fuzztones or overdriven amps to make there sound heavy during their time, rock music just keeps evolving with those commercially available efx boxes being sold in the market today.

Long live Ozzy!!! Hehe...;) I would say "The SexPistols" is the first band that truly revolutionized the rock music/industry. They started in the 60's when were still egg cells and sperms. Haha!;) Hey, add me in. I like topics like this. Thanks.

Most of Ozzy's lyrics make perfect sense. There are just very subtle lyrics in them. I think the 5 most influential Rock/Metal bands were as follows: 1. Sabbath 2. Beatles(Lot of metal solos in their songs) 3. Kiss(Huge rock band, amazing stage shows) 4. Metallica(They were a later band, but Kirk's guitar style can be heard in many bands today) 5. AC/DC(Huge band... can't think of how they influenced right now, but I will)

Hard to say IMO, I would agree that Black Sabbath hands down took heavy metal to a new level bringing it what it is today.

His lyrics to me have numerous meanings. In fact Ozzy was one of the reasons why I was able to recover from a severe depression. His songs gave me a positive way to release my negative emotions as well as way to escape to a world of my own where I could be myself as in good and bad. His Crazy Train song sooths and calms me in ways that no others do taking me from the high energy living energy of the beginning to releasing the rage of the crap in life.. To feeling good and better when the song is all over. I totally love Ozzys music as for me listening to it has always been healing, and comforting. - DNatureofDTrain
