Have any of you ever heard of or been diagnosed with a Lipoma? Well, I have and I wish I'd never heard or seen them before. They are tumors made of FAT!!! How disgusting is that?! They are not cancerous that is the only good thing about it. I have one just below each knee the size of a baseball. They can be removed but they are not covered under our provincial health insurance. I would have to pay about one thousand dollars each. If they interfered with my health in any way or made walking difficult then the government would pay for it, but because it is cosmetic, I would have to pay out of my own pocket. Yes I am overweight, but I was assured by my doctors that this can happen to skinny people too. I hope that none of you ever get one of these. They are not painful, unless you press on it - it just feels bruised. I don't wear shorts or skirts anyway because my legs are too heavy and full of spider veins but the baseball lump is something I would never want anyone to see.

I see you are vegetarian, surely your fat in take is much lower than that of a meat eater? Actually, my dog has a lipoma on his side. The vet said it would go away as long as he lost weight and got regular exercise. Well he has been getting plenty of exercised and I've switched him over toa low fat dog food butit's still there. I think I have noticed it has gone down a bit. Yes, thankfully they're benign but I feel your pain! All the best with them.
