I know that if you want to stop it, you must take your breath in your chest for the longest time you can and, in theory, it disappears...

hiccups is due to the contraction of diaphragm,a flat sheet below the lungs. This occurs due to the rush of air into the lungs.Hiccups occurs several ti.mes per minute.Hiccups can be stopped by drinking water ,giving a sudden shock to the person, holding the breath for some time.

so many theories are there but i dont think any of those will help.but drink a glass of water slowly.this might help.these are sudden involuntary contractions of the diaphragm muscle.if u eat food quickly u will swallow some air too with food which will cause these hiccups.if u drink too much also u will get hiccups.so try these:hold your breath, drink glass of water, use smelling salts, some one scares u good.these are all i heard.but i usually drink water.hope this helps.

yeah that's what i usually do, I just drink water. Although if i do this, it doesn't necessarily stop immedietly, but it does stop after a while. you never know it could have cut the time i'd have it by half. thank you for your response!

that happen to me also most of the time... but this is very effective. Try to inhale and exhale. When you inhale try to pause for how many seconds at least 10 seconds before you exhale...

Oh so does this really work? Perhaps just trying to forget it might work as well?
