What advice in poetry would you pass on?

When I was young it was the thing for everyone to have an autograph book. No, not to get film stars and celebrities to write in it but to get family and friends to write in it.
Clearing out the attic slightly the other day we came across it.
My favourite saying was Love many, trust few, but always paddle your own canoe.
If I was to ask you to write in it what would you put?

Not poetry--I like that one you found in there--but I would write never give up, never give in. An internet friend of mine (now deceased) said that to me years ago and I can't tell you how many times it has encouraged me and kept me going!
