Good-bye and Good Riddance!

This morning, as I have done every morning since they cut me off, I powered up the DSL modem just in case Verizon turned my DSL back on. I was logging into AOL through their dialer when out of the corner of my eye I saw a steady green light. Could it be? I plugged the ethernet cable back in, shut down the AOL dialer and went to my email and clicked send/receive. Lo and behold, I had DSL
No more AOL snail speed. No more busy signals for people trying to call me (like yesterday when my son tried to call). Good-bye AOL and Good Riddance!
Is this a good day for you? Are you having fun online?

Hey fwidman! Congrats! You are back in business! Welcome back
to the world of highspeed! I don't think I could ever go back
to dialup anymore! Now that I have had the taste of highspeed
I don't ever want to go back to AOL dialup! I think I would
rather not even bother! I don't even know how I did it for
as long as I did! I guess because at that time I had never
had anything else so it was all I knew! Now, forget it! So
I am so happy for you that your are back do having your beloved
DSL! I have Cablvision and when they are down I am miserable!
So enjoy!!!!

thanks, Opal
I am very happy. I got an email this afternoon saying it was ready. Guess they didn't realize that I had been using it all day
They are even sending me an installation kit by UPS next day air and it should be here tomorrow. I am hoping they send me a new modem, as this one is old and maybe a new one would make me even faster

Hey fwidy! Now that would really be cool! I hope they do send
you a faster modem! You deserve it! Now you and Shelly can
really switch on and off faster so we can see you both on here
more often! Send my love to Shelly too and don't forget the
rest of the family, dogs included!

Well I am glad that you got your dsl back. I know how it feels when that happens. But I go through Time Warner. There was one time that we did not have internet for almost 2 days because Time Warner was playing around. But yes today is a good day, it is nice and sunny out with 74 degrees and I am going to be taking my boys to the park after promising them and not following through so today is the day. Just the boys,my 2 little sisters and I. No internet or anything for about 3 hours, it will be great. I spend time with my family as much as I can but sometimes I can get destracted with wanting to do mylot and other online things. So I am going to feel even more energized when we get back. So yeah today is a great day.
Happy Mylotting

Ah..what great joy, I know how it feels to have your Internet racing at faster speeds, or even just to have your internet back after the downtime. Mine is just b/w 256kbps - 2Mbps but I'm happier than before as it's faster and more secure than the last connection which was highly unstable.

I spent some time working in the telecommunications industry. There is an old joke that goes...
"what do you call someone who pays too much for internet service?"
An AOL customer LOL
They are way over-rated, and WAY over-priced. Their services sucks. It always has. My sister had AOL service for a while when she lived in Georgia. I spent some time up there with her, and we both HATED AOL. Being shackled to dial-up is bad enough...being shackled to AOL dial-up is pure damn torture...Hopefully you will make a full recovery LOL

Don't you hate being dependent on a crappy little evil like technology? I had dial up for a long time because I used my computer at work more than home but when I started doing more stuff at home I had to have a faster speed. There is a big difference between slow and super fast. Glad you to have you back among the hares.

Thanks, I am happy to be back amongst the hares
When I worked and used the computer, it was hard to come home to dial up. Having a server and being the only user on that server made for some fast speeds. then I'd come home to my dial up and groan a lot

Hi fwidman,
Glad you got your DSL back and hope you are back here often, I don't use dialup but I do have AOL, it has not given me any trouble (fingers crossed) it worked for me perfect on my laptop.

WOOHOO! That is awesome!
That is the first time that I have heard of problems with Verizon. I just wish they would make themselves available in my town! I keep seeing all of the commercials, but they have no plans of coming in.
Enjoy your high speed internet again!
