Well, as per the below site, a user had answered your queries: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0434665/faq#.2.1.1 Why is the series called Bleach? For me, I will think that it's because the Shinigami uses the zanpaktou to cleanse (bleach) the souls of the hollows. I think that seems like the more reasonable answer to me.

ICHIGO means "Strawberry" in Japanese. For them a bleaching / coloring their hair became a common part of their rock-punk culture in the early 90's (rockstars and guitarist)... and soon its was wide spread thing to do among guys and gals in Japan.. FOr that reason i suppose, the creator called it Bleach referring to Ichigo style of his hair.. hope my answers seem close

Tite Kubo himself ( the creator of bleach )gave two reasons to calling it that. One was a symbolic reason. As the soulreapers cleanse souls,it's like they are "bleaching" their souls. Like how bleaching in a clothes sense means to remove stains and blemishes, the shinigami remove sin and corruption from the souls. The other reason he gave is because "Bleach" was the name of his favorite Nirvana album.

I actually thought it was because of Ichigo's strange hair color (a natural orange) that led to the title. As to the other explanations in this post, I'll really be interested when they're verified.

well the most accepted answer is that shinigami ''bleach'' the soul of holows but there have been several assumptions about it being related with the zero division or the god the are guarding

I had never really thought of this before. I always tend to like it because it makes searching for Bleach images etc... in japanese sites easy because it isn't in kanji. It probably does have to do with the cleansing of hollows and the souls that they are made of. That sounds like a good response.
