6 year old accidentally kill his father with a gunshot!

this is really horrible! according to news, the father asks his son to get his .45 caliber gun...i think he will clean it (sorry i don't get all the info...) and as the child is approaching his father the gun is pointed to his father's direction and it accidentally shoot him...and it also wounded his mother...
this is something that should not happen only if adults are being responsible...this is very sad and maybe traumatic to the child...

This is really sad for the child. This is a traumatic event, which will affect the rest of his life.
But here's one thing that I'm sure I fully understand. How did this child get his hand on this gunshot?? Shouldn't his parents put it in a place where their child wouldn't be able to get it? I am not saying that his parents are entirely at fault, but I believe that they partly responsible, as they are the adults in the house and should know better.
