Western culture is different from eastern. Women are having more freedom both socially and economically in western culture. Living together culture is very common. More divorces in western culture. Eastern culture woman is dependent on man. Not much of divorces here. What culture do you like? Do you differ from my statements?

Well I dont think we are doing too badly here in India...in most families at least in cities, nowadays you will find girls being educated and groomed to stand on their own feet. They are becoming professionally competent and earning and taking their own decisions. Yet, a strong and rigid family value from childhood, instills in our women a sense of belonging and responsibility towards the family...even before their own self. So while women are no longer dependent on men, they do not walk to the divorce court at every chance. So I believe, a proper mixture of western independence and eastern values, makes the best for our women.

That's a bit of an understatement Vijayanths, women are given much freedom in eastern culture as well. I grew up with a dad from the eastern part of the world and a mother from the western part. I have been given much freedom to do what every other child was allowed to do. My parents have never heap any pressures on me where i should devote my life to finding a husband and respecting him. I only respect those who respect me, I think that women should not depend on men. and men cannot look down on women to do so. Women just like men should do their share of the household incomes and men should help with the chores as well. all things must be equally shared. otherwise there will be much conflict. Neither male nor female should call themselves HEAD of the household they should intact share the title.
