He's former No. 1 player who won the 2000 US open and 2005 Australian Open, but series of injuries slowed him recently. Marat Safin came to Wimbledon ranked 24th and seeded 14th, and had to be considered quite a favorite against Levine, who never had defeated anyone ranked better than 67th. Marat Safin reached at least the semifinals at all four majors, including at Wimbledon last year, but he has been criticized for not living up to potential stored in his 6 foot 4 frame about 7 inches taller than Levine. Against the unheralded Jesse Levine, a 133rd ranked qualifier from the United States who began Tuesday with two losses and no wins on the tour in 2009.

marat safin is a good tennis player. i have watched him play real good tennis. however, his temper and nerves oftentimes get into his playing style. and that affects his level of playing tennis. i am sure he will beat levine and get into later rounds. but he has to beat his own temper to be able to get passed top players such as murray, djokovic and federer. nadal would not defend his wimbledon crown this year. goodluck to your player and enjoy watching wimbledon.
