I went to Gettysburg and I don't believe in ghosts, but...

We went to Gettysburg this past weekend and had an absolutely great time. It is said that it is one of the most haunted places in the United States. I don't beleive in ghosts though. We did go on the ghost tour and stuff like that but just for fun. When we got back to the hotel, I looked through the pictures that we had taken that day. Some of the pictures in the battlefield areas of the park had this strange white marking in it, almost like a fog. It didn't show up in all of the pictures, but it did show up in enough of them to make me wonder. So then we had shot a short video and the mark was also in it. I looked to see if maybe I had accidentally touched the lens, but there is no way that was possible. And why would it show up in just some of the pictures and not all of them. They also didn't show up in any pictures except those which were on the battlefield. Everything that was shot in town were clear. I tested it again when I got home and took more pictures without cleaning the camera and there were no markings there. Sooooooooo, what do you all think that it could have been? Seems awfully strange to me. Do you believe in ghosts?

Yes, I do believe in ghosts 100%, I have no doubt at all. You might have some very interesting photo's there, and possibly could even be sold to someone of interest in the paranormal. Good for you. Gettysburg IS one of the most haunted places in the U.S., and I'm happy to hear you had a great time. Also I must commend you for checking out your camera for any problems, and this helps substantiate your findings. Very interesting. Can you upload any of them for us to see? That would be fun and so interesting to view. There was a time my daughter (who takes beautiful pictures and has a special knack for it), was taking some pictures in a cemetery out in Pennsylvania. It was a bright sunny day with white clouds and a big blue sky. When she had the pictures developed, ONLY the cemetery pictures were gray and gloomy, as if something overshadowed the entire picture. Almost like the pictures were taken in Black and White, but they were Color. That was very strange too, and the rest of the pictures were beautifully colored, bright and clear. Weird happenings, lol!

Wow, that's pretty interesting. I was going to upload one or two of the pics but my camera is downstairs and I am feeling a bit lazy right now. I will upload one or two of them tommorow so they can be seen. Thanks for sharing! It kind of scared me a little bit when I saw the pics, but it was so peaceful out there that I had to keep reminding myself that it wasn't always peaceful there. I didn't get the feeling like many others have described about the site but apparently the ghosts didn't care. It still could have been something else that happened, but it just seems awfully strange the way it happened. Again, thank you and look tommorow for those pics!!

Yippee!, haha! Can't wait to see them. I will be sure to come back tomorrow and check them out. By the way, did you spend the night there? Or just go during the day?...just curious.

We stayed on the outskirts of town because it was cheaper there than in town. The park closes at 10 so we couldn't stay as long as we wanted to. The cemetary closes at like six, so we were really disappointed by that. The next time we go, we will be more prepared though.

I have been to Gettysburg Civil war park, but that has been a longtime ago. i never saw any ghost though. I realy don't belive in them either. Here were I live there are quite a lot of civil war parks. I live close to one, Chicimakia Millitar Park. famoas for the Battle of Chiciakia(it is misspelled). there is the legong of greeneys that is a part of the follore there. I rember hearing about it when I was a kid. it delt with a dissenboyed head of a union soldier and at night you ccould see his eyes glow green. I have never had any photo problems when I have taken pics there. maybe it was some other peroblem with your film.

Well, it wasn't film, it is a digital camera. And wouldn't it make sense that if it was a problem with the camera that it would be in all the pictures instead of a select bunch of them. I took over a hundred pictures and only about ten of them have that white marking in them. It was also in the video I took. So, I am thinking that it was probably not the film or the camera.

I don't believe in ghosts but I also know that there are many things we don't understand in the natural and spiritual worlds.

All I know is that this picture thing has me thinking really hard about things. I kept thinking the whole way through the park how peaceful and beautiful it was there. So much so that it confirmed my feelings that there were no ghosts there. But when I put those pics on my laptop and saw those white spots, it made me think about it. It was really just too weird.

I don't believe in ghosts, but it's certainly not for a lack of being open-minded. How fascinating would it be if there were ghosts, although, upon thinking about it, I'm really wondering how fun it would be to wander around in some strange void, popping in and out of existence in the natural world, and, if most stories are to be believed, looking mournful and sad, and looking to finish the 'unfinished' business. I've lived in Gettysburg for about five years and have seen absolutely nothing that could be described as a ghost. I mean, nothing that if you thought about it for five seconds you couldn't explain easily away. Noises, shadows, weird photo anomalies, etc. All of these things are explainable. Example: here's a tip for anyone who every finds themselves on Oak Ridge which looks over Gettysburg College campus: If you think you're hearing a wild uproar of yelling, screaming men, as if in battle...that is not what you're hearing. I walk up there all the time, and I've heard it a number of times, even a quarter mile back from the ridge...sounds travels strangely in the peaks and valleys around town. That sounds you're hearing is coming from the college stadium. There is likely a game. *sigh*
