Did You Pick the Right Profession?

It becomes ever more apparent to me every day that my husband, who is a lawyer, should have been a stand up comedian. The problem with his comedy act is that he is more of a "George Carlin" comedian and less like a "prime time TV" comedian. But I am certain he missed his true calling. Just last night while watching "America's Got Talent" he observed that the show should be called "America's got Mental Illness" after watching some guy break things with a hammer that was being hung from hooks in his eyes. Then when they showed a bunch of prepubescent little girls in leotards with big colorful dots on them I said "what is that" he said it was a bunch of kids wearing Twister mats...in other words, "a pedophiles wet dream"! I'm still laughing! And I think I should have been a lawyer because I love to argue and I've gotten rather good at pointing a "positive spin" on things. So how about you? Are you in the right profession? Or if you could be anything at all, what would you want to be and why?

He doesn't mind when I laugh at him when he is being funny. He minds when I elbow him in the face and giggle uncontrollably while apologizing. It doesn't help that while I am giggling and apologizing he says something like "yes your apparent concern is staggering" which just makes me giggle harder.

You or your husband should write down his lines, and if there's a comedy club anywhere near you...give it a try. Doesn't matter if he's a lawyer, and certainly could be done as a hobby. A friend of mine who is also a lawyer has developed that same George Carlinish humor. Must be something about the profession. Is there anything stopping you from going to law school, or pursuing some sort of paralegal profession? BTW...did you ever make that second recipe I sent you for the Spanish pork?

You obviously wear too many hats to just be a lawyer. You're also a doctor, teacher, mediator and law enforcement...not necessarily one at a time! Imade my match with one, and now I'm struggling with a step-daughter who has never known a day of discipline in her life. If your going to grill the pork, another (easy) thing is to rub it with pesto rub a day or so before you cook it. You can get a pesto dry rub. It's a nice change and also has great flavor. I'm sorry about your best friend. I hope that happy memories remain as the sadness fades.

That's what I was always afraid of. I was afraid I would put in the time and spend all kinds of money to get a degree in something and then decide I didn't want to do that anymore and have to put in more time and spend more money to learn something else.
