Coke + Mentose =????

Hello friends,
I heard that ,Mentose reacts spontaneously with Coca-cola to form cyanide.Is it true?
I got some stills of this reaction,adding a Mentose to the cola bottle,there cola produce forms spontaneously and rise from the bottle like a water jet and after the reaction the remaining cola in the bottle,they say,its highly poisonous like Cyanide.I saw some videos also,in You-Tube on this topic.Have you ever do this experiment?
Any way its better to avoid this combination in daily life.

Yes we did this experiment years ago and it does explode. We heard using Diet Coke is better (I think because it has less sugar). So went and got some Diet Coke and Mentos. My husband went into the back yard and I had the video camera ready. He put the Mentos in and it shot up really high into the air. It was cool!
I have never heard of these two forming cyanide.
